HARVEST OF THE MONTH RECIPE—MARCH

NUTRITION SNAPSHOT: Per serving: 200 calories, 5.5g total fat, 0.05g saturated fat, 3.5g carbohydrates, 0mg cholesterol, 3g sugar, 8.5g protein, 279mg sodium, 9.5g fiber

1. For each wrap, spread 2 Tbs hummus over one side of the tortilla.

2. Then top it with ¾ cup slaw, ½ tomato diced, ¼ cup chopped cilantro and a dash of salt and pepper.

3. Wrap and roll like a burrito.

BROCCOLI SLAW WRAP Servings: 2

2 Whole Grain Flour Tortillas

¼ cup Hummus

1 ½ cups Broccoli Slaw

1 Tomato, diced

½ cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro

Salt & Pepper to taste

Each year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors a National Nutrition Month® (NNM) campaign to increase public and media awareness of nutrition and wellness. The campaign also promotes the Academy and its members as a reliable and credible source for scientifically-based food and nutrition information.

This March, the theme is Savor the Flavor of Eating Right, which encourages everyone to take time to enjoy food traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors and social experiences food can add to our lives.

How, when, why and where we eat are just as important as what we eat. Develop a mindful eating pattern that includes nutritious and flavorful foods – that’s the best way to savor the flavor of eating right!
