BENGALURU, Oct 12:

American aerospace anddefence major Lockheed Martintoday said F-16 fighter jets willstart flying with made in Indiawings in the next three years, pro-vided the components made by itsIndian strategic industry partnerare certified by a US agency.

The US agency which certi-fies aircraft components isDCMA. It is an agency of theUnited States Governmentreporting to Under Secretary ofDefence for Acquisition andSustainment.

"In next two to three years,manufacturing of F-16 wings willbe made in India by our Indianpartner, provided the componentswhich they make are certified andapproved of by our defence

agency," Lockheed Martin ChiefExecutive Phil Shaw told PTI inan interview here.

Tata Advanced SystemsLimited is Lockheed Martin'sstrategic industry partner to make

F16 wings. The tie-up wasannounced in September this year.

Shaw said defence procure-ment world over is a longprocess and India was no excep-tion.(PTI)
