Operating finishing machinery – inspect, split and rewind large rolls of labels on to smaller rollsRecording time taken to complete the tasks on PC against the individual job being run – to allow comparisons between estimated time and actual time taken to complete taskUsing printer and software to overprint labels with variable data e.g. sequential barcodesAssist in despatch and stores department as and when requiredTrainee label press operator, converting large rolls of label material in to rolls of labelsBack up plate maker for our Graphics department, the plates are used to transfer ink to the material on the printing press. Training will be given in all aspects of the work required. Hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am to 1:30pm on a Friday. 4 weeks annual holiday per annum plus 9 statutory holiday days, the dates of which are advised each year. In Work Support Service – Edinburgh & East Lothian Wide
A new In-Work Support Service will operate for employees who have recently taken on new employment but who may need support to stay in their job.
Funded through the Department of Work and Pensions Flexible Support Fund this pilot project aims to assist those new employees, by supporting them with any barriers that may prevent them from sustaining.
It will primarily focus on people gaining employment from the hardest to reach unemployed groups including ESA clients, Lone Parents and long-term unemployed (including work programme returners); however, each referral will be considered on an individual basis.
This service offers a suite of support options including;
• Mentoring Support
• Coaching (face to face or telephone)
• Further job search support
• ‘Better off’ calculations for underemployed clients still on benefits
• Access to further training opportunities
• Modern Apprenticeship options
• SVQs
• Mediation between the new member of staff and employer if needed
