Since 2010, ROWA Lack has been a partner of the ROWAGROUP, attracting customers with more than half a century of experience. With its technical competence, modern product de-sign and customer-oriented services, ROWA Lack has becomeone of the market leaders for the surface finishing of coated tex-tiles.
With its official subsidiary in China – the Ningbo ROWA Coatingsheadquartered in Ningbo – the company strengthens its long-standing market profile and boosts the service quality.
ROWA Lack works with its customers to develop tailored soluti-ons – customer satisfaction is the number one priority. Whetherdeveloping new, innovative lacquer systems or optimising lac-quer processes, ROWA Lack offers flexibility and personal consultation. New products are always developed with an eye toward using environmentally-friendly raw materials and state-of-the-art technology.
For new and further developments in the past years, special at-tention was paid to the solvents, particularly with respect to theSVHC candidate list (SVHC: substances of very high concern),Annex XIV (List of substances subject to authorisation) andAnnex XVII (List of restrictions) of the REACH Regulation. The-refore, owing to continuous optimisation and further develop-ment work, ROWA Lack is now able to offer an SVHC-freealternative for many established systems.

ROWA Lack – Field of applications
PVC-coated tarpaulins Truck covers, awnings, materials for halls and tents– all these products fall into the group of PVC-coated tarpaulins. In most cases, they all have thesame base material: a PVC-coated polyester fa-bric. However, PVC- and TPO-coated roof mem-branes and swimming pool lining also fall under thisarea. Since these materials are primarily used out-doors, the lacquer systems used should be strong-ly resistant to weathering and UV radiation. Thelacquer system should minimise the migration ofplasticisers, while also making the coated surfacesoil-resistant and easy to clean. In most cases, thelacquer systems for these applications have to besuitable for welding. Normally, high-quality acryliclacquers from the ROWAKRYL® series are used forthese applications.
Print mediaPrint media are essentially PVC-coated fabricssuch as backlit, frontlit and side-curtains. Theyhave nearly the same requirements as PVC-coatedtarpaulins. In addition, the various large format prin-ting systems must be able to print on the lacqueredsurfaces. The lacquer system has to ensure thatthe print comes out splendidly and the ink adhereswell. The features of the printed material should re-main unchanged even after the lacquered goodshave been stored for a long while. The lacquercoating should ensure that the print profiles are assimilar as possible, regardless what base materialis used. For this application lacquers from theROWAKRYL® series specifically opti mized for prin-tability are recommended.
ROWA Lack is a leader in the area of lacquer systems for thesurface treatment of synthetic films and foils.
The primary applications are high-quality lacquer systems forcoating and finishing PVC and PU-coated fabrics and PVCand TPO foils.

Textile constructionsHere we are speaking about PVC-coated fabricsfor the textile architecture segment. The lacquersystem used must be extraordinarily resistant toweathering and UV radiation because it is usedoutdoors for long periods. Another importantaspect of the PVC membrane is its long-term UVprotection. The surfaces should remain resistantto soiling and be very easy to clean. Maintainingthese mechanical properties over a long period oftime requires a very good plasticiser barrier. Withthe combination of ROWAFLON® UV protectionprimers and ROWAFLON® topcoats, ROWA Lackoffers a tailor-made solution for this area of appli-cation.
Furniture and decoration foilsThe rigid or semi-rigid foils generally used for theseapplications are made of PVC or TPO. Furniturefoils can basically be divided into 2D and 3D ap-plications. Their basic requirements are compara-ble. They must be extremely resistant tochemicals, and highly resistant to scratching andabrasion. The reques ted visual and tactile charac-teristics range from high-gloss to very dull finisheswith hard, smooth and even soft-feeling surfaces.Coating systems for 3D applications must also besufficiently elastic to withstand subsequent pro-cessing stages. For these applications, we recom-mend the high-quality 2K and UV systems in ourROWAKRYL® and ROWADEKOR® series.

AutomotiveThis area of applications includes PVC, ABS andTPO foils for vehicle dashboards and door-panelsand PVC and PU-coated synthetic leathers forseat backs, gearshift covers and trunk covers. Therequirements in this area vary greatly. They mightneed strong abrasion resistance, good chemicalresistance and flexibility or even suitability for deepdrawing. The surfaces usually must be matt finished and scratch / mar resistant and shouldhave special tactical characteristics (soft-touch).In the automotive sector, most lacquer systemsused are aqueous with low solvent content or solvent-free. The high-quality waterborne 2K sys-tems in the ROWATHAL® series are a good choicefor this area of application.
Synthetic leatherThe focus of this area is on fashion applicationssuch as synthetic leather for bags, apparel andshoes. The priority is on the visual and tactile characteristics. Synthetic leather upholstery forfurniture, for public transportation and in the medical field constitutes additional areas of application. These users expect a strong abrasionresistance and a good chemical resistance (anti-graffiti). The products in the ROWANYL® and RO-WATHAL® series are especially recommended forthese applications.
