Unlike most of the painters of
his time, he had no formal art
training.
He became interested in
the cubist painters.
The Cubists were trying
to create art using
squares and cubes.
French painter Robert Delaunay is best known for being one of the first to introduce vibrant color into Cubism.

Robert co-founded an abstract art movement called Orphism that used strong bright colors and geometric shapes.
His 1912 work, Simultaneous Windows on the City, is one example of his use of bold colors and geometric shapes.
