Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard

LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Brightspace by D2L.

When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL,

access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading.

Now, to manage LockDown browser (LDB) in the Quizzes tool, instructor have to access a LockDown

Browser Dashboard. Dashboard gives more options to manage LDB in quizzes.

To access LDB Dashboard, go to Quizzes. You will see the new LockDown Browser link at the top:

Once you click the Dashboard link, a list of quizzes in the course is displayed

If you would like to modify a quiz so it requires using LDB, select Modify Settings from the context

menu to the left of the quiz title:

Select "Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam." Optionally, apply an access

password

Click [+] to view the Advanced Settings.

Next to each Advanced Setting, the [explain] link will give you its full description

Once you finish modifying the quiz, click Save and Close.

NOTE:

The old method for setting up an exam to require the use of LockDown browser (Quizzes > Edit Quiz >

Restrictions) is not working anymore.

You will see that this option is “dimmed” and directs you to the LockDown Browser Dashboard.

If you will see that this old option works in some browsers, do not use it. Using the two methods

interchangeably can cause problems.

Student LDB Perspective

Brightspace 10.5 and higher supports “auto-launch” for LockDown Browser. This means a student can login

to Brightspace using a standard browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari), go to a quiz that requires using LDB,

and have LockDown Browser automatically launched when the exam requires it.

The student will be presented with the following options:
