Dumo
Dumo(due-Moe),whichyoulearnedbrieflyinSecondDegreeReiki,isalsoanimportantsymbolfortheReikiMaster-Teacher.TherearetwotraditionaldrawingsofDumo;chooseonethatworksforyou.Itrepresentskundalinienergy.KundaliniisanancientSanskrittermthatdescribesuniversalenergyandconsciousnessthathasbeenwithyouthroughallofyourincarnatedlives.Itsits,coiledatthebaseofyourspine,waitingtoawaken,uncoil,andmove
upwardthroughyourbody’senergeticsystems.Itisthesourceofalllifeforceenergy(pranaorchi)inyourbody.Reikiandotherenergeticpracticescanawakenkundalinideliberately,oritmayawakenduringspontaneouslifeevents.Regardlessofhoworwhenkundaliniawakensinalife,itbringsmanyspiritual,physical,mental,andemotionalchangesthatyoucanchanneltoserveyourhighestandgreatestgood.ManyReikiMaster-TeachersuseDumoduringtheattunementprocessusingamethodcalledtheVioletBreath(whichisoneofthemethodsyouwillbetaughthere).Othersuseittostokethefireofkundalini,drawingnegativeenergyoutofthebodyandreleasingit.YoucanalsouseDumowithcrystals.BydrawingDumoonthecrystals,theywillbecomeself-cleansing.FireDragon

Raku
Raku(Ray-Koo)maybeahelpfulsymbolduringanattunement,althoughyouonlyneedtouseitifyoufeelitisnecessary.Youcanusethissymboltoclosetheenergeticconnectionbetweenyouandthestudentattheendoftheattunement.ItgroundstheReikienergy.Touseit,drawitdownthebackofthestudent,endingatthefloortoclosetheenergeticconnection.Youcanalsousethissymboltoincreasespiritualawarenessandreleasenegativekarma.
ReikiAttunementsTheReikiattunementceremonyispowerfulforboththestudentandtheReikiMaster-Teacher.Aftertheattunement,thestudentwillbeabletofocusandchannelReikienergy.ThisattunementtoReikienergylastsalifetime.ItisimportanttostresstostudentsthatReikidoesnotmakethemahealer;ratheritallowsthemtobecomeavesselorchannelthroughwhichtheReikienergyemergeswithitsownintelligence.ThesubjectthendrawstheReikiintohisorherbodyasitflowsthroughthechannel.ThehistoricoraltraditionofReikiintheWestmeansthatdifferentReikimastersmayteachandprovidedifferenttypesofattunements.Youwillbeprovidedwithseveraloptionsinthismanual.Choosetheattunementceremoniesthatworkbestforyou,knowingthatwhichceremonyyouusemaybedifferentdependingonthestudentandsituation.Anyoftheattunementswillworkequallywell,andafterreceivingit,yourstudentwillbeabletochannelReikienergy.Youmaywishtopracticetheattunementceremonies,whichhavemultiplesteps,beforeyouprovideyourfirstattunement.Thatway,youractionscanbeseamlessandflow,makingtheceremonymorepowerfulforyourstudents.

• TheymaycombineanyoftheReikidegreeattunements,forexample,providingFirstDegreeandSecondDegreeattunementsatthesametime,SecondDegreeandMaster-TeacherDegreeattunementsatthesametime,orallthreedegreesatoncedependingonthesituationandneedsofthestudent.
• ThewayIchoosetoteachandattunemaybedifferentthanhowyouchoosetodoit.Thisisfine.FollowyourintuitionandDivineGuidancetoachieveasystemthatworksforyouandyourstudents.
Howeveryouchoosetoattuneyourstudents,rememberthis:studentsmustbeattunedtoFirstDegreeReikibeforeaSecondDegreeattunement,andtheymustbeattunedtoFirstDegreeandSecondDegreeReikibeforeaMaster-TeacherDegreeattunement.Youcan’tskipdegrees,althoughyoucanprovideattunementstomultipledegreesatonetime.WorkingwiththeDegreesItisamatterofpersonalpreferencewhetheryouattunetoasingledegreeatonetimeorcombineallthreedegrees.DifferentReikiMaster-Teachersdothisdifferently.TheinformationthatfollowsishowIchoosetoattunetothedegreesandwhy.Inmostcases,IattunetotheReikidegreesseparately,allowingthepractitionertimetoworkwiththeenergybetweeneachattunement.TherearesomecaseswhereImaycombineFirstandSecondDegreeattunementsbutingeneral,Iprefertoattunetoeachseparately.MyReikiMastertaughtmeitishelpfulforthegrowthanddevelopmentofthepractitionertoworkwitheachReikidegreeforatimebeforemovingontothenextdegreeofenergy,andthisisapracticeIagreewith.Ingeneral,IfeeltheReikipractitionershouldworkwiththeenergyforatleasttheminimum21-daydetoxperiodaftertheattunementtofamiliarizethemselveswiththatdegreeofReikienergybeforeseekingahigherdegree.Ingeneral,Ibelievepractitioners
shouldworkwiththeenergyevenlonger,allowingaminimumofthreemonthsbetweeneachdegree,orperhapsevenmore.IpersonallyworkedwithFirstDegreeReikiforalmosttwoyearsbeforemovingontoSecondDegreeReiki,andthenImovedontoMaster-TeacherDegreewithinaboutsixmonths.IreceivedmyCrystalReikiMasterattunementaboutsixmonthsafterthat.Myreasoningisthis:Reikienergychangesus,butwehavetoallowtimefortheenergytomanifestchangesinourlives.ReikiMaster-TeacherDegreeenergyprovidesmoreprofoundchangesthanFirstDegreeReiki,soifyoujumptoMaster-TeacherDegreerightaway,youmaynothavetimetointegrateandexperiencetheprogressionofchangesthatcomeasyoumoveuptheenergeticladder.TakingyourtimetoallowandprocessthesechangeshelpsyoutomorefullyintegratetheReikienergyintoyourlifeandspirit.Ifyoudotoomuch,toosoon,youmaymissoutontheimportantlessonsthatcomewiththegradualonsetofchanges.IknoweveryoneisinahurrythesedaystogetfrompointAtopointB,butwithReiki,it’smoreaboutthepersonaljourneythantheendresult.Infact,thereisnoendresultwithReiki.Instead,thegoalistocontinuetogrowandchangeastheReikienergybringsaboutgreaterandgreaterlightinyourlife.Withthatbeingsaid,there’snothinginherentlyrightorwrongaboutanyReikiMaster’schoiceofhowtheyattunetheirstudents.Whatisimportantislisteningtointuitivecluesandallowingflexibilityfromstudenttostudentandsituationtosituation.IfyouallowReikitoguideyourintuition,thenyouwillknowwhatisrightforeachindividual.BeforetheAttunementCeremonyRegardlessofthedegree,therearemanycommonelementstoallattunementceremonies.Whatisdifferentistheintentionforeachdegreeandperhapstheritualsinwhichyouengage.TeachingYourStudentsTeachtheappropriatematerialforthedegreeofattunement.Asateacher,itwillbeuptoyoutodevelopyourownmanualandcurriculumfortheseclasses.However,itisimportantyouprovideyourstudentswithasmuchknowledgeasyoucanimpartsotheycanethicallyandresponsiblyshareReikiwithothers.ForalldegreesofReiki,youmayusemymanualsprovidedyouleavethemasiswithnochangestoheaders,content,orauthorship.FirstDegreeReikiInthisclass,youwillneedtocreateacurriculumandprepareamanualthatteachesthefollowingprinciples(atminimum):

Whateveryourstudentexperiencesisperfectlynormal,sopreparethemforsomepossiblethingstheymaynotice.Fordistanceattunements,letthestudentknowthatwhileitisbesttoberelaxedandundisturbedduringanattunementsoheorshecanhavethefullexperience,iftheyaredisturbedtheattunementwillstillwork,asintentioniskey.PreparingYourselfItishelpfultoprepareyourselfbeforetheattunementprocess,aswell.Youwillbemovinginandaroundyourstudent’sspace,sobesureyouhavepracticedgoodhygieneandarecleanwithfreshbreath.Givethestudentabreakforafewmomentssoyoucanpreparebymeditatingforfiveminutes,invitingtheReikienergyin.BeforeanattunementIdothefollowing:
• ImakesureIhavemeditatedanddoneReikiself-healingthedayoftheattunement.• Beforetheattunement,IdrawDKMonbothpalmsandsitinGasshoforatleastfive
minutes,oruntilIfeelready.
• IaskmyReikiguidesforguidanceaboutanyspecialstepsthatneedtobeincorporatedduringtheceremony.
TheAttunementCeremonyOnceprepared,youmayproceedwiththeattunementceremony.Below,youwillfindseveralmethodsbywhichyoucanperformtheceremony.Allareequallyeffective,sochoosethatwhichworksbestforyouandyourstudents.GettingReadyHavethestudentremovealljewelry,shoes,andglasses(andyoumaydothesame).Seatyourstudent(orstudents)inachairwiththeirfeetrestingcomfortablyonthefloor.Havethestudent(s)placetheirhandsinfrontoftheirchestinprayerpositionandsitwiththeireyesclosed.SpecialTechniques–HuiYinandVioletBreathSomepractitionersusethevioletbreathandhuiyintechniquesforattunement.Theseareoptional,butyoucantrythemforyourattunementsifyouwish.Iprefernottousethem,buttheymayresonatewithyou,andI’dlikeyoutoknowhowtodothemincaseyouwishtoincorporatethemintoyourceremonies.HuiYinContractingyourHuiYinduringanattunementcanhelptokeepyourReikienergyfocusedandwithinyourbodyduringanattunement.TheHuiYinisapointonyourbodybetweenyouranusandgenitals.Somepractitionerskeepthispointcontractedandtheirtongueplacedontheroofoftheirmouththroughoutattunements.Itisuptoyouwhetheryoufeelthispracticewillhelpduringyourattunements.IfyoudowishtokeepyourHuiYincontracted,thenyouwillwanttopracticetoworkuptothislevelofmusclecontrol.TraditionalKegelexercisescanhelpyoudevelopthislevelofcontrol.TheVioletBreathToperformthevioletbreath:
1. Visualizeawhitemistsurroundingyoucompletely.2. ContractyourHuiYinandputyourtonguebehindyourupperteeth.3. Takeadeepbreathinandseeawhitelightenteringthroughyourccrownchakra,
travelingthroughyourtongue,downyourbody,andcirclingthroughtheHuiYinandbackupthespineintoyourhead.
4. Nowseethewhitemistfillingyourhead.Seeitturnblueandthenindigo.5. Visualizethemistswirlinginyourheadinaclockwiserotationandturningvioletasit
does.
6. Now,inthemiddleofthemist,visualizeagoldenDumo.BlowtheDumosymbolandvioletbreathintoeachofthestudent’schakraswhereindicatedduringtheattunementceremony,silentlyintoningthenameofthesymbolthreetimesasyoudoso.
TypesofAttunementsYoucanuseanyofthevariousattunementtypes.CrowntoCrownAttunementThisisthesimplesttypeofattunementandhastheleastamountofritualandceremonyinvolved.Thisattunementisdonementally,andtakesabout10to15minutes.
1. Sitfacingyourstudent,justafewinchesapart.2. MentallystateyourintentiontoattunethestudenttothedegreeofReiki–forinstance
say,“IcalluponReiki,theuniversallifeforcetoattune(student’sname)to______DegreeReiki(saythedegree)intheinterestsofthehighestgood.
3. IfattuningtoSecondDegreeReiki,visualizetheSecondDegreesymbols(CKR,SHK,HZSN)overthestudent’shead,intoningeachsilentlythreetimesandprojectingthemintoeachofthestudent’schakras,aswellasvisualizingthembeamingintothepalmsofthehands.Eachtimeyoubeamasymbol,repeatthenamethreetimes.
4. IfattuningtoReikiMaster-TeacherDegree,visualizetheReikiMastersymbol(DKM)overthestudent’shead,intoningitsnamesilentlyandprojectingitintoeachofthestudent’schakras,aswellasvisualizingitbeamingintothepalmsofthestudent’shands.Eachtimeyoubeamasymbol,repeatthenamethreetimes.
5. Inyourmind’seye,statetheintentionthattheReikiattunementbepermanent,thatitremovesanyblocks,andthatitalwaysworksintheinterestofthestudent’shighestandgreatestgood.
6. Remainwiththeenergyuntilyouintuitivelyfeelitstop.7. OffergratitudetoReiki,restatingtheintention.Forexample,“IgivethankstoReiki,the
universallifeforce,Dr.Usui,Dr.Hayashi,MadamTakata,andallReikimasterspastandpresentforthisattunementof(student’sname)to(degree)Reiki.”
8. GroundtheenergybydrawingtheRakusymboldownthefrontofthestudent’sbody,endingwithyourpalmstouchingthefloor.
9. Finishbyofferingyourstudentaglassofcoldwaterandrunningyourhandsundercoolwater.
ActiveAttunementThisattunementceremonyismoreactiveandhasmoreceremonialelements.Manypractitionerspreferitbecause,althoughitismorecomplicatedthanthecrowntocrown,itallowsthestudentandMaster-Teachermoreinteractionthroughouttheceremony.
1. Standinfrontofthestudent,approximatelytwotothreefeetaway.2. Studentwillsitwitheyesclosed,handsinprayerposition.
3. Askyourstudenttosayaloudorsilently,“I,(name),calluponReiki,theuniversallifeforce.Iamreadyandopentoreceivemy(degree)Reikiattunement.”
4. DrawalargeCKRinfrontofthestudent’sheartchakra,intoningthenameofthesymbolthreetimessilentlyasyoudo.
5. Cupyourhandsinfrontofyouwithyourthumbstouching,facingyourpalmstowardsyourstudent.BeamReikienergyfromyourhandsintotheirheartchakraforabout5seconds,oruntilyoufeelreadytomove.
6. Walkcounterclockwisearoundthebackofthestudent,standingbehindthemfacingthem.
