Attention: Mr. David Hough
Subject: Kent City Mobile Home Park ~ 247514
Dear Mr. Hough;
On Tuesday, November 22, 1983, static water levels and top ofcasing elevations were determined for the four li - inch diametermonitoring wells at the Kent City Mobile Home Park. All 4 of themonitoring wells are screened in the first waterbearing formationbelow land surface. Table 1 shows the available monitoring welldata.
Figure No. 1 shows the surface contours of the static water tableof the first waterbearing formation and the direction of the groundwater movement. The groundwater is moving to the northwest towardBall Creek.
If there are any questions or if we can be of further help pleasegive use a call.
Very truly yours,
Aqua-Tech GeotechnicalConsultants, Inc.

WELL NO. 2
PUMPING TEST DATA
Kent City Mobile Home ParkPage 4September 1, 1983
The second well (Well No.2) at Kent City Mobile HomePark: was drilled and test pumped during the last weekof August 1983, by Raymer Co. Inc. This well is located75 feet north of .Veil No.l and was constructed as a 125foot deep, 10X6-inch gravel pack well. Figure No.2 graph-ically depicts the soils penetrated by the drilling pro-cess, well construction details and the test pumpingdata. The Record of Well and test pumping data are alsoappended.
The pumping test was scheduled to be a 4 hour test; how-ever, due to motor failure, the test was terminated at3.7 hours. During this test, 'A'ell No.l was supplyingthe mobile home water system. The result of this pumpoperation is reflected in the "ups and downs" seen onthe Time-drawdown Curve. These changes in the drawdowntrend and the very snort recovery period makes analysisof the data, except calculating the wells specific cap-acity, difficult to impossible.
A "ball park" rating of a well's safe yield can be deter-mined by multiplying 2/3 of the usable water by thespecific capacity. The remaining 1/3 of the usable wateris available to cover long term pumping trends and anyinterferences caused, by other wells tapping this aquifer. This method rates the yield of the well at 366 gpm.
98 ft.(pump suction inlet 5 ft. above the screen)- 12.5 ft. (static water level)
85.5 ft. (usable water)* .6656.43 ft.
x 6.3 gpm/ft of dd
366 gpm
The transmitting capacity of the screen in this well, based upon V = 0.1 fps, ranges between 100 to 120 gpm.Based upon tnis and good construction practices thewell should never be equipped with a pump having ayield greater than 120 gpm.

NATURE OF COMPLAINT This business in Kent City is piling up truckloads of apple
peelings in back of their factory, by the creek. This is very bad
for the people who live in back of the factory property, on the other
road. (Rusco Road, Kent City) The smell is terrible, and rats are
swarming back there. The surrounding neighbors are very upset.

Re: Results of Drinking Water SampleCollected at 68 South Second StreetKent City, Michigan
Dear :
During March of this year, the Kent County Health Departmentconducted a survey of 29 different wells located within KentCity. The samples were collected from selected homes and busi-ness establishments on Ball Creek Avenue, South Main Street,South First Street, and South Second Street.
The results of the sample collected from your well did not in-dicate the presence of any organic contaminants at the minimumdetectability level of one part per billion (ppb). Also, therewas no evidence of any organic contamination in any of the other28 wells sampled.
For your information, I have included a copy of the sample re-sults. If you have any questions about your results or requireany additional Information, feel free to call me at 774-3089.
Sincerely,
L

Re: Well Water QualityKent City Body Shop91 South Main StreetVillage of Kent City
Dear Mr. Wouthuis:
As you are aware, representatives from this office have collectedwater samples from the existing shallow well serving the body shopon January 6, 1983, and February 17, 1983. The results of thesetests indicate the presence of a multicomponent hydrocarbon withcharacteristics of a petroleum distillate (fuel oil, gasoline, etc.)Also detected in the sample collected on February 17, 1983, wasToulene (a component of petroleum distillates) at the concentrationof 3 parts per billion.
Very little is known about the long-term health effects of thesecompounds at such small concentrations, however to be on the safeside, I recommend that the water not be used for human consumption.I would also recommend that a new well be drilled to a deeperaquifer that is protected by clay layer (s) of at least 10 feet inthickness. This well is to be drilled by the "rotary method" uti-lizing a heavy bentonite slurry. This method effectively seals offthe upper aquifer, thus greatly reducing the chanca of cross con-tamination of other aquifers. If you choose to have a new welldrilled, please have your well driller contact us so we can reviewthe proper procedures with him.
If you have any questions or should you desire any additional infor-mation, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
• ?cDavid J. Kraker, R.S.Supervising Sanitarian
