INTrOduCTION
FreefoamFreefoamisaleadingmanufacturerandmarketerofbuildingproductsincludingawiderangeofrainwatersystems,fascias,soffits,externalcladdingandinteriordecorativepanelling.Freefoam’sproductsofferhomeowners,housebuilders,localauthorities,developersandinstallersalow-maintenancealternativetoconventionalbuildingmaterials.Inaddition,Freefoam’sproductsarestylish,versatileandcomeinalargerangeofcoloursanddesignstoaddstyleanddefinitiontodomesticandcommercialbuildings.

Freeflow is a range of innovative, high quality PVC-U rainwater systems that are the result ofFreefoam’s culture of continuous innovation and investment in research and development.A20YearExtendedGuaranteeisavailableonallregisteredFreeflowinstallationssubjecttotermsandconditions.Freeflowrainwatersystemsareavailableinsquare,halfround,ogeeanddeepstyles.
Each rainwater system is co-extruded with a white interior and a range of exterior colours -Freefoam’snew innovative solution to theproblemsassociatedwith rapidheatabsorptionandexpansionofgutters.
Widely published test results show that while a white surface exposed to sunshine canabsorb heat and attain a surface temperature 10oC or more over the air temperature, darksurfacescanriseafurther30-40oCandexceedthesofteningpointofthePVC.Onlargecapacitygutters with a large surface area facing the sun, this can be a particular problem. AllFreeflowguttersystemsareco-extrudedwithcolouredexteriorsandwhite interiors. Whiletheinteriorwillbeexposedtosunlightasnormal,itsabsorptionofheatfromthesunandsubsequentexpansionalongitswidthandlengthwillbesignificantlyreduced,thusdramaticallydecreasingtheprobabilityofanyassociatedproblems.
Theogeeguttersystemissymmetricalthuseliminatingtheneedforstockistsorinstallerstohavetostockarangeofleftandrighthandparts.
The Freeflow range has been designed to ensure both reliable, leak-free performance andquick installation. In addition, it is compatible with other rainwater systems with a range ofadaptors. Freeflow products come in a range of standard colours including white, black andbrown,whileothercoloursareavailableonspecialorder.

INSTALLATION GuIdE
Freeflow®rainwatersystems,ofsquare,halfround,ogeeordeepdesign,maybeinstalledusingthestepsoutlinedbelow.Itisimportantthatyourefertothedesignguidelinesoutlinedattheendofthisinstal-lationguidepriortobeginningyourinstallationproject.Thedesignguidelines,explodedviewdrawingsandproductlistsinthisbrochurewillassistyouinselectingthecorrecttypeandquantityofproductsrequired.
FITTING GuTTErItisimportanttoensureguttersarefittedashighaspossibletotheroofedgeandtheroofedgeshouldnotprojectbeyondthecentreoftheguttercrosssection.Gutterscanbefittedeitherlevelorwithaslightfall.Layingthegutterwithafallwillincreasetheflowcapacityandincreasetheareaoftheroofthatcanbedrained.Siltingwillalsobereducedwithagutterinstalledwithaslightfall.
Fixthegutteroutlettothefasciawith6mmx25mm(minimum)roundheadscrews*verticallyabovethegul-lyfromwhichtherainwaterwillbeconveyedtothedrainagesystem.Useastring-linetoensureastraightgutter,whetherlevelorlaidtoafall.Doublecheckthedesiredfallisachieved,adjustasnecessary.Markoutthepositionofeverysupportpointalongthisline.
Fixfasciabracketstothefasciaalongthelinecreatedabovewith6mmx25mm(minimum)roundheadscrews*atmaximumintervalsof1m.Afasciabracketshouldbefittedwithin150mmofallstopendsandangles.
Thefittingofaunionbracketisrequiredateachjunctionoftwoguttersections.Fitastopendtocompletetherun.Unionbracketsshouldbefixedtothefasciawith6mmx25mm(minimum)roundheadscrews*.Unionsshouldneverbeallowedto‘float’withoutfixing.
Startingatthegutteroutletinsertthebackedgeofthegutterundertheretaininglipofthefasciabrack-ets.Thenpressdownontheguttertosnapthefrontofthegutterinplace.Fitadditionalgutterlengthsandgutterlengthscuttosizeasrequired.Whenmeasuringgutterstobefitted,ensurethatthegutterwillextendtothemarksonthefittings.Fittingsaremarkedtoindicatethepositiontowhichtheguttershouldbeinsertedtoallowforthermalexpansion.
Allrainwaterguttersandpipesmustbesquarelycutandallburrsremoved.Itisrecommendedthatafinetoothedsawbeused.Caremustbetakenwhencuttingguttersandpipesincoldordampconditions.
NOTE:Inareassubjecttohighwinds,extrasecuringofbracketsmayberequired.Anyextrascrewsdeemedadvisableshouldonlybesecuredthroughholesdrilledwiththenecessaryclearance.
FITTING dOWNPIPE Fixingofthedownpipestartsatthegutteroutlet.Anoffsetisgenerallyrequiredtojointhegutteroutletordownpipefromtheoutlettothedownpipeonthewall.OffsetscanbeconstructedfromtherangeofFree-flowbendsdependingupontheroofoverhang.Alloffsetsshouldbesupporteddirectlybeneaththeloweroffsetbendbyapipeclip.Remembertoallowforthermalexpansionasdescribedbelow.
Insertalengthofsquareorrounddownpipeaspreferredintothebottomoftheoffsetbendandfixapipecliptothewallwith6mmx25mm(minimum)roundheadscrews*.Ensurethatagapof10mmisleftatthetopofthedownpipeforthermalexpansion.Fixadditionalpipeclipsasrequiredatmaximumintervalsof2m.Ifthedownpipeissubjecttoimpact,extraclipsshouldbeconsidered.Twodifferentpipeclipfittingsareavailable,aflushfittingandwhereagapispreferablebetweenwallandpipe,astandoffclip.Additionallengthsofdownpipemayberequiredtoreachthegrounddependingontheheightofthebuild-ing.Inthiscase,fixasockettothewallwithapipeclipand6mmx25mm(minimum)roundheadscrews*atthebottomoftheexistingfitteddownpipeandfixanotherlengthofdownpipetothewallasoutlinedabove.Ensurethatagapof10mmisleftatthetopofadditionaldownpipesforthermalexpansion.
Whenalldownpipeshavebeenfixedinplace,connectiontothedrainagesystemcanbeachievedeitherbyterminatingthedownpipewitharainwatershoefordisposaleitherintoadrainorhopperordirectlyintotheundergrounddrainagepipeusingarainwaterpipeadaptor.Theshoeoradaptorwilltaketherainwaterfromthedownpipetothedrainthusreducingthepossibilityofsurfacewateraccumulatingontheground.

MAINTENANCEGuttersanddownpipesshouldbecleanedoutregularly,atleastannually,morefrequentlyinlocationswherethereiswindbornedebris,e.g.closetotreesandsandyareas.Amilddetergentsolutionisidealwhencleaningdirtfromexternalsurfaceareas.Regularlycheckthesecurityofgutters,downpipes,fittingstoensuretheyhavenotbeendislodgedorcomelooseandthatthegutterextrusionshavenotmovedbeyondanythermalexpansionallowancemarksinthefittings.
