Description
Construction
HEIMEIER Duolux is a complete series ofvalves for two-pipe heating systems. Thevalves are connected to radiators in sin-gle-storey heating circuits.
Duolux is comprised of a two-pipe distri-butor, an ascending pipe, and thermosta-tic valve body with black protection cap.The distributor body is made of corro-sion-resistant gunmetal (nickel-plated)and is designed for connections to plastic, copper, precision steel, or multi-layerpipes.
For HEIMEIER valves, use only theHEIMEIER compression fittings whichhave been designed and indicated for theparticular application (e.g. ID no. 15 THE).
The two-pipe distributor equipped with abuilt-in presetting cone enables hydraulicbalancing directly on the radiator. This presetting concurrently assumes thefunction of the return shut-off so thatthe radiator can be removed withoutdraining the system.

Duolux
Two-pipe system
ApplicationDuolux was developed specially to simpli-fy the connection of radiators to hotwater heating systems. For these multi-radiator systems, also known as“spaghetti” systems, each radiator isconnected directly to a central single-
storey heating manifold with its ownsupply and return pipe.
If the manifold does not include preset-ting connection devices, Duolux two-pipedistributors equipped with built-in preset-
ting cones enable an hydraulic balancingbetween the radiators.
– The composition of the heat transfermedium should be one which avoidsdamage or the accumulation of stones inhot water heating systems, in accordancewith VDI guide line 2035.
For industrial and long-distance energysystems, see applicable codes VdTÜV and1466/AGFW 5/15. Heat transfer mediacontaining mineral oils or lubricants con-
taining mineral oil can have seriouslynegative effects on the source apparatus
and usually lead to the disintigration ofEPDM seals.
When using nitrite-free frost and cor-rosion resistance solutions with an ethy-lene glycol base, pay close attention tothe details outlined in the manufacturers’documentation, particularly details con-cerning concentration and specificadditives.
– The thermostatic valve bodies workwith all HEIMEIER thermostatic heads
and thermal as well as motorized actua-tors. Tune components appropriately toguarantee maximum safety.
When using actuators from other manu-facturers, make sure that the power isappropriate for thermostatic valve bodieswith soft-seal valve inserts.

Notes
Operation
Release and unscrew blanking plug(size 19). Check the zero position usinga hexagon key (3 mm), i. e. presetting
cone must be open all the way by tur-ning to the left (anticlockwise). Make therequired adjustment based on the dia-
gram by turning to the right (clockwise).Screw on blanking plug and tighten.
Release and unscrew blanking plug(size 19). Using a hexagon key (3 mm),shut off return by turning all the wayright. Screw off blanking plug. Exchangeprotection cap for thermostatic head, close valve and secure valve body with a
plug cap G 3 / 4 once the radiator hasbeen removed.
Important: Before shutting off the return, determine the preset number of rotationsto the left. This helps to guarantee that,
after connecting a radiator, the originalpresetting can be reestablished.

The circuit flow rate is designed to bedistributed to 50% radiator and 50%bypass.
In the model with the return shut-off, aradiator may be removed without drai-ning the system. The bypass remainsopen, independent of the shut-off, sothat circuit operation is not interrupted.

Duolux
Single-pipe system
ApplicationWith a single-pipe system, all radiatorsin a heating circuit are connected to aclosed circular pipeline. Duolux guaran-tees that a defined portion of the circuitmass flow rate is fed to individual radia-tors. This portion is set at the factory to50%, which means the heating capacity
correction factors can be more simplydefined.
In order to allow for an optimal adapta-tion to the particular installation site, theDuolux single-pipe distributor withthermostatic valve bodies can be combi-ned in three different variations.
With single-pipe systems, radiators witha closed valve can be minimally heatedby the heat flow in the bypass.
Sample applications
Single-pipe single-storey heating systemSeries connection of all radiators
Operation
Release and unscrew blanking plug(size 19). Using a hexagon key (3 mm),shut off return by turning all the wayright. Screw off blanking plug. Exchangethermostatic head with protection cap,
close valve and secure valve body with aplug cap G 3 / 4 once the radiator hasbeen removed.
The bypass remains open, independentof the shut-off. This guarantees thatoperation of the pipeline is not inter-rupted.
