K. Heeba is a differently abled child studying in Panchayat Union Primary
School in Arasanoor – Sama thuvapuram, She is deaf mute by birth
When she was admitted in this school, there was a big question within me . i .e How
am I going to help such a child? But the brightness I saw in her eyes, the self
confident I noticed in her, gave me positive healthy answer vividly. A few days
passed very soon I came to understand her physical aliment is not the matter. But
her growing self confidence, ceaseless effort, positive thinking and all her kinds of
talents attracted me very much. Clearly I understand educational development in
the differently abled child is more virtuous than all other children. So I made a
challenge from then on dealing with great effort on heeba.
The sounds of ordinary words are taught to her by using pictures and real objects.
By using simple words . she is taught to make simple sentences. After every teaching she is
given short test on the same
Her teacher uses visual aids based on moths to
teach her numbers and help her to workout
addition, subtraction ete.
She is learning science by imporovised materials she is
able to learn by making and the same is done by
learning
(making learning)
She is given Chances to read the Tamil new sappers during
assembly programmers. She recites poems also
She is able to read without making mistakes. She reads faster
then others, writes correctly and neatly than any other ordinary
child
She dances on stage. She teaches her friends different
kinds of dances during lunch break in the school
Drawing and painting are her supreme hobbies. She can
draw and paint anything and everything within no time.
In 2012 she came first in the district drawing competition
conducted by RTE ACT. In 2013 she came district second
in the same competition.
Her teacher S. Amali Francisca Encourages and teaches her
about Jewellery making. With in a short period she makes a
lot of ear rings and neck-laces. She wears whatever only
made by her. In all the aspects she follows her teacher.
• She is ready to learn anything.• She is sincere in all her dealings• She likes to stand on her foot not depending on
others. “self help is the best help”- her policy.• Now she can read and write in Tamil and English.• She communicates easily with others • She has got skills in curricular and non- curricular
activities.• Now she is not isolated but feels equal to other
children.• There is no words to express her brilliant
activities and smart movements. She is a lovable child.
MY WISH• Ailments are not a block in one’s growth. Heeba’s
growth and achievements prove this truth. They are not to be secluded from ordinary children and others in the society. We should understand their capacity, ability and provide opportunities to grow to a complete person.
• As a primary teacher learning the qualities of Heeba I wish her for better future and I humbly request the future teachers of Heeba to take effort to lift up and may God bless her and all her teachers.
