Here We Grow! In January 2018, New Vistas School (NVS) received a pledge of $250,000.00
from the Schewel Foundation to help build a multipurpose building for our cam-
pus. Since receiving our original pledge, NVS has been blessed with further
funding that totals over $70,000.00.
A multipurpose building will benefit
NVS students by providing a sheltered
indoor facility for their Physical Edu-
cation (PE) classes and recess, as well
as provide a large space for programs,
and a new dining hall. Currently when
there is inclement weather, students
gather in the NVS Dining Hall to do
limited exercises, and play tennis,
baseball, or bowling on the Nintendo
Wii. With the much-needed addition of
a multipurpose building, a variety of
new health benefits will be available
year-round to NVS students.
A multipurpose building has been a
dream of New Vistas School for many
years, and we are finally seeing it
come to fruition. If you have any further questions or would like to contribute to
making this dream a reality, please contact us at (434) 846-0301 or

MEDITATION FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
VOL. 12, ISSUE 1 PROGRESS REPORT
Springing Forward
Spring has sprung. Daylight savings time has ushered in longer days, and warmer temper-
atures are beginning to be more frequent. Life is beginning to return to the garden as the
trees are budding and green shoots are pushing up through the soil. It is a time of renewal,
new life, and change. We begin to look forward to spring break and, unbelievably, the end
of another school year.
Even though this is a season of moving forward, we also take some time to look back and
reflect. We look back at the fun events we have enjoyed together through course of the
school year. We think about the learning we have accomplished together; not just the ma-
terial covered but the insights discovered.
With the knowledge we have gained and the experiences we have shared, we now focus on
looking forward, on springing forward. For many of our students, that will mean springing
forward to the next grade level or educational experience. For many of us, both children
and adults, it means springing forward to the next chapter of our lives. Just like the season,
we renew and change.
So, just like the plants in the garden, we push through and grow and look to the sunshine.
We keep calm and spring on.
With warm affection,
Lisa J. DeJarnette, Ed. D.
Head of School
