President’s Message
Another year is nearly in the books. Plans are already in the works for an
exciting new year at Old Hickory.
I would like to extend thanks to two of our board members that have chosen
not to continue into 2016. Robert Cressionnie has served as our president
for the past four years. Over that time our club has made a number of im-
provements including our new storage building and the purchase of a forklift
to enable us to safely handle pallets of targets.
John Parker has served as a board member for a number of years. We appre-
ciate his guidance over the years and his ability to “set us straight” when
needed. I would like to extend sincere thanks to both Robert and John for
their efforts over the years.
Looking forward, we are continuing to grow and improve our club and the
activities. We have a great group as board members including a couple of
new faces. As always, we count on our board members to take care of all the
day to day activities of running a volunteer club. If anyone would like to be-
come a board member, work as a counter attendant, or simply volunteer to
help at one of the events, please see one of our board members to discuss the
possibilities. We encourage all our members to be more active and partici-
pate in club activities.
As club president for 2016 – 2017, I look forward to working with the board
and all our members. I hope we can count on your support and participation
at Old Hickory.
Sincerely,
Jim Thompson

Message from the outgoing President.
I want to say that I have enjoyed the last four years as President of Old Hickory Gun Club. It has been a great ex-
perience getting to know many of the members and sharing our love of the shooting sports. Due to work schedules
and commitments, I am unable to continue serving on the board. Fortunately we have an able and willing board
who will continue serving Old Hickory to the best of their ability.
In the past four years, we have seen some great things take place at Old Hickory. We have a wonderful facility with
more improvements yet to come.
I want to thank all the members of the board who serve with little recognition. They are the ones who keep the
doors of the club open and keep things running smoothly.
I want to include a special thanks to Rusty Daughtridge and everyone who helps keep the houses stocked with tar-
gets. I'd also like to include a special thanks to Wayne Rhodes and all those who assist in building our youth
shooting program through fund raising, organizing, and support. We all love to see young shooters developing
their skills to preserve this great sport.
There are special thanks deserved by those like Bob Curl, who gave his time to service the machines and equip-
ment, to Steve Joyner for keeping the house stocked and the counter staffed, and to Jim Thompson for keeping
track of component inventory. Thanks also to Secretary Bud Tremblay for a great club newsletter, to Jon Silber-
horn for a thorough job on membership, to Al Bost for persevering with the trap program and to Phil McCumbee
for managing the finances and keeping the bills paid.
To all the other board members who devote time and energy to club operations, and to general members like Ricky
West and others, who cook and organize socials where all members are welcome and can get to know each other,
your help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks go to those who help out with shoots, and work days, and all the
little things that go unnoticed. A big special thanks goes to the wives who pitch in and help with events.
It's impossible to adequately thank all who play a part in our club so just let me say - Thank You All.
These years as a board and as President have been a wonderful experience and I hope that my work brings me
back to the area so I can again be more involved in this great club.

Annual Note Holder Meeting - November 4, 2015
For many years, the Old Hickory Noteholders have served as the primary governing and oversite body for OHGC
and many were charter members of the club. The seed money provided by these individuals helped OHGC be-
come what it is today. At the 2014 annual noteholder meeting it was agreed to pay all notes in full, de facto, elimi-
nating the noteholders. The group also made a commitment to revise and update the by-laws to reflect this
change and to eliminate ambiguities, errors and contradictions that had resulted from numerous changes over the
years.
The revised by-laws were approved at this year’s annual meeting and became effective on November 5, 2015. The
new by-laws created an electorate consisting of the former noteholders of record on Nov. 4, 2014 and the current
standing Board of Directors. This electorate will in turn elect a Board of Directors annually. The Board will be
the primary governing body of Old Hickory.
There were numerous other substantive changes made to the by-laws that will improve the Board’s ability to man-
age the business affairs of the club and to maintain and enhance facilities and events. A copy of the by-laws will be
posted in the club house.

There are several openings on the Board of Directors for 2016. If you are interested in taking a more ac-
tive role in the managing of club activities, contact a current member of the Board for more infor-
mation. Board membership requires attending monthly meetings and participating in the routine busi-
ness management of the club. Along with these responsibilities come added benefits while a Board
member, such as suspension of dues, extended use of club, and special discounts.
The Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Please come out to find out more about Old
Hickory and see if you may be interested in helping out.

TO THE YOUTH SHOOTERS OF OHGC: The club has been raising money for the
club’s Youth Shooters Program. The main intent for this money is to help
the youth shooters with expenses for the 2016 Junior World Skeet Cham-
pionships. The club will continue its efforts to raise money through June
of next year. If anyone has ideas or suggestions or can help with these
fund raisers, please contact Mr. Wayne Rhodes, Youth Committee Chair-
man at [email protected].
Youth Shooters at OHGC will be defined as full time students, age 22 or
under. A committee of OHGC Board Members will select worthy candidates based on their will-
ingness to practice, to help with fund raisers, and to provide general assistance at the club when
their free time allows. A dedication to the requirements of competitive shooting and a commit-
ment to Old Hickory will be important factors. There are many ways a youth shooter can help
when at the club, e.g. filling target houses, helping with routine maintenance, or assisting the
club attendants in their daily activities.
There are a number of OHGC Skeet shooters with many years of competitive experience, who
have been successful in tournaments and who are willing to help with coaching. Mr. Rhodes
can direct you to these club members.
If you are already aware of this program, please spread the word to other club members. The
selection committee will be assessing interested shooters during the next several months. The
Junior World will be in July. Old Hickory plans to send at least two shooters and perhaps more,
if sufficient funds are available. The selections will be made in March so there is plenty of time
to prepare. Transportation to the Tournament will be the responsibility of the individual. OHGC
funds will be used to help defer the cost of lodging, entry fees, and ammunition. The Tourna-
ment will be held in Savanah, GA. Mr. Rhodes will book several rooms at a nearby Holiday Inn
or comparable motel. If an individual is not selected for assistance but would like to participate
in the tournament as a member of the OHGC team, the club encourages you to do so.
It is imperative the club be aware of your desire to participate in this program. If you are inter-
ested in becoming eligible for a portion of this monetary assistance, please contact Wayne
Rhodes at [email protected]. Send him your phone number and e-mail address
as soon as possible.
Youth shooters should consider participating in as many events as possible such as the Pig Pickin Open in June, 2016. If you participate in any other sanctioned events outside of Old Hickory, be sure to keep Mr. Rhodes informed. Good luck to everyone and thanks for support-ing Old Hickory Gun Club.
The newsletter needs reporters, writers
and photographers. We expect to have a
very active year with multiple tourna-
ments , shooting events and other activi-
ties. Would also like to hear about
OHGC members that participate in ma-
jor events outside of the club. One per-
son cannot cover them all. If you can
help , even if its just taking pictures with
your cell phone, it would be greatly ap-
preciated.
