Inthis90-minutepresentation,attendeescanexpecttolearnabouttheimpactASDhasoncriminaljusticeandforensicmentalhealthsettingsandtoacquireknowledgeaboutthedeficitscommonlycausedbyASD.Specifically,wewillfocusonhowASDmaycontributetoconfabulation,competencytostandtrial(CST)deficits,diminishedcapacity,falseconfessions,sexuallyinappropriatebehaviors,suggestibility,aggressiveness,self-injuriousandsuicidalbehaviors,andpossiblevictimizationduringincarceration.Relevantresearchfindingswillbepresentedthroughouttheworkshop.Finally,thistrainingwillprovidesuggestedapproachesandinterventionstrategiesthatcriminaljusticeandforensicmentalhealthprofessionalscanutilizewhenworkingwithindividualswhohavesuspectedorconfirmedASD.
