Insert the Countdown leader and color bars on Video 2,
Hit the space bar to observe what each doeso Note using Video track 2…would have to move
the entire timeline in Video 1o Delete them from the timeline…obnoxious!!
Titles and CreditsLet’s create an opening title, then ending credits
Adding the Opening Title Move your playhead into an area of black, or else
you’ll see an actual frame as a background New Item>Title
Specify a name: Cats Movie Title
Click OK The title window opens:
o It has its own toolboxo Safe text area is the innermost boxo Keep text inside that box
We’re going to add a curved title (path) using the Path Type Tool to create a path for our titleo Use the Path Type Tool (NOT the pen tool!) to
create a semi-circle by clicking several times:
Can use the smooth pen tool (Same as in Illustrator, InDesign) to convert each anchor to a smooth (curved) anchor
Now click the regular type tool and type The Cat’s Meow…
It might not fit, but that’s OK; we’ll shrink the font size
Look on the right and find the font size property
Click and drag the number towards the left until the text fits…
Use tracking to make text spread over the complete path
Kern where needed Here’s mine
Use the Selection tool and move text box around so it fits in the safe area
You can also apply a style…click one of the Styles from the bottom:
I used the Hobo Black style You may need to select the text first Then use tracking again to adjust position
Apply a color (Watch for the gamut warnings…colors can’t show on TV
Click the Fill check box
Click the Fill Type and choose Solid (versus gradient etc)
You may have had to click the small arrow on the left of the word “Fill” to expand the options
Can choose a color from the color picker or use the eyedropper
Click the “x” in upper right corner to close and save The title is transparent, so we can place it over a still
or movie clip and the clip will show through, except where the words are.
The title is added to your project window…using the name you assigned.
Test Drag the title to the time line, Video track 2 It Works!!
Create Ending Credits…move playhead to blank area near the end…will have black
Let’s create ending credits for our movie Click the New Item icon and choose Title again As the title name, enter Ending Credits Choose the text tool Set font size to about 32, choose a style, and a color Enter 3 or 4 lines of text, for example:
Select all (Ctrl-A) if necessary before adjusting size Use Selection tool and position the titles (credits) at
the bottom of the screen Adding a logo to the ending credits
Be sure nothing is selected, and the title asset open. Select Title>Logo >Insert Logo on the main
window…makes no sense, seems to me, the tool should be inside the title window!!.
Select the catgraphic.jpg in Project1 folder
Resize and place it
Save
Roll versus CrawlMake the text roll (bottom to top) versus crawl (from left to right or right to left)
Find the small icon that has an arrow pointing up and down
A roll moves text vertically, from bottom to top (default in Premiere)
A crawl moves horizontally (side to side) Click the Roll option Check the Start Off Screen and End Off Screen

Zooming Animations Want to choose an image that’s larger than 720 x 480,
then zoom in o Will go from 53% scale (reduced size) to 86%
(large size) scaling---image will start small, get larger as we zoom in
o Pick any clip o Right-click and choose Remove Effects:
Choose Motion:
Your clip should now be back to its original size
Move the play head to the start of the clip Click on the actual clip on the timeline. Click the Effects Control tab…will use built-in
Motion effect Click the Motion menu down arrow
See Scale?
Adjust the Scale value so the complete image is visible. Mine was about 51%
Click the Toggle Animation icon next to Scale.
This says we will create an animation by having Premiere create new, in-between (tween) frames.
This will add a starting keyframe
Move to the end of the clip..use the effects control playhead
Set the Scale to about 86% , and reposition
An ending keyframe is automatically added, as you can see from above
Move your play head to the start of the clip and play it by dragging to the right
You might need to reposition the image in the Program window
Panning Animations This time, we’ll pan across an image To do so, we change the location (X,Y) values Here, we seem to move the camera as we pan from left
to right. To do this, we modify location parameters.
Choose a clip (Cozmo Calendar works nicely) and set its size back to the original 1280 pixels, as we just did for the zooming.
Click the Motion Effect Controls tab Note the position is 360, 240
To accept this as the starting point of the animation, click the Toggle Animation icon next to Position.
Otherwise, set the clip’s starting point by moving the image
When you click the Toggle Animation icon, the starting keyframe is added
Move the Effect Control playhead to the end of the clip
Move the image to its desired ending location:
Play the animation
Zooming AND Panning…figure it out on your own…easy extension of what we’ve done…!!
