ThePOWERPLAYP16-MdigitalmonitoringmixeristheheartofthePOWERPLAY16personalmonitorsystem.TheP16-M'suserinterfaceoffersindividualmixcontrolover16channelsof24-bitdigitalaudiodeliveredovertheproprietaryBEHRINGERULTRANETdigitalaudiosystem.TheULTRANETsystemdeploysCAT5ecabletoconnecttheP16-Mtoavarietyofdevices,suchastheP16-IInputModuleandP16-DULTRANETDistributor,aswellasprovidingadirect,seamless digitalconnectiontotheX32DigitalMixer.

24-bitdigitalaudiofirstenterstheP16-MthroughtheCAT5eULTRANETINconnectiononthebackpanel.OnceinsidetheP16-M,thedigitalaudiopassestothedigitalmixersection,whereindividualchannelscanbeselectedandtweakedusingtop-panelcontrols.Foreachchannel,the controlsincludeCHANNELSELECT,VOLUME(withlevelLEDs),stereo PAN/BAL(ance),andasetofEQUALIZERcontrolsthatcanbeusedtocontrolgainforBASS(100Hz)andTREBLE(10kHz)shelvingequalizers,aswellasMIDgainandFREQcontrolsforasweepablesemi-parametricmidrangeEQ.

WithintheSETUPgroupofcontrols,theLINKbuttoncanbeusedtoconnectanytwoneighboringchannelsintoastereopairwithfullvolume,equalization,andpan/balancecontrol.TheGROUPfunctiongathersmultiplechannelsintolinkedgroupssothatentirefamiliesofinstrumentscanbesimultaneouslyandeasilymixed(e.g.,bassanddrumsinasinglegroup,allguitarsinagroup,allbackgroundvocalsintheirowngroup,andsoon).Oncechannelshavebeentweaked,grouped,andmixed,theSTOREandRECALLbuttonscanbeusedtosaveandre-loadupto16differentmixerscenes.

IntheOUTPUTsectionofcontrols,theLEVELknobcontrolsthefinaloutputvolume,whiletheLIMITERknoballowstheusertosetthelimiterthresholdandprotecttheirhearingfromsuddenvolumespikes.Intheeventthevolumeleveldoesbecomethreatening,theunitincludesanemergencyMUTEfunctioneasilyaccessiblefromabuttononthetop panel.

Foranalogaudiooutput,thebackpanelfeaturesa1/4"TRSheadphoneoutput,aswellasunbalanced1/4"LINEOUTjacksforusewithpoweredmonitors.AllfunctionsmayalsobecontrolledremotelyviathededicatedMIDIINconnection.

TheULTRANETsystemalsoprovidesusefuladditionalfunctions.Ifanoutletisunavailableforthepoweradapter,theULTRANETINjackcanalsobeusedtoprovideremotebuspowerfrompower-equippedULTRANETdevicestotheP16-M,inadditiontodigitalaudio.DigitalaudiomayalsobesentthroughandouttoadditionalULTRANETunitsbyusingtheULTRANETTHRUjack.AudiosentoutthroughthisULTRANETjackwillbeacloneoftheunprocessedinputsignal,andthereforewillalsobeavailableforfullcustommixingonadditionalP16-MunitsfurtherdownlineinyourULTRANETnetwork.

ThePOWERPLAYP16-M'seasilyintegratesoverULTRANETwithanentirefamilyofproducts,includingtheP16-IInputModuleandP16-DDistributionHub,aswellasthepowerfulX32digitalmixer.Thiswide-rangingcompatibilitymakestheP16-Manincrediblypowerfulandflexiblepersonalmonitoringsolutionperfectforlive,studio,orinstalledsoundapplications.
