Summary
• The authors investigate blowing snow transport in the vicinity of Terra Nova Bay during 2006-2007.
• Snow transport by snowdrift is estimated based on:– In situ measurements from driftometers/AWS;– MODIS satellite images.• On satellite imagery, blowing snow can be
distinguished through “billows” or “atmospheric dunes”.
• In TNB coastal area, up to 50% of the precipitation is removed by blowing snow sublimation or snow transport.
