Date & Origin of Birth
•Renoir was born on February 25,1841 in Limoges,France. He was the sixth of seven children of Leonard Renoir and Marguerite Merlet.
Family Background• Renoir was born into a working
class family. As a boy Renoir worked in a porcelain factory starting a the age of 13. Renoir's father was a tailor and his mother a seamstress. He worked hard throughout his childhood to help out his family.
Childhood
• At the age of 13 he began painting flowers on dishware at a porcelain factory
• In 1862 he entered the studio of Charles Gleyre (1808-74) and became friends with Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley
• (1869) He and Monet worked together at La Grenouillere, on the Seine ( a famous river in France)
Art Training
•In 1860, Renoir was admitted as an authorized copier in the Louvre.
•The Louvre is a famous French art museum.
•He first was an apprentice at a porcelain factory he worked at.
•He worked with his friends Monet and Sisley.
Art Influences
• Renoir influenced many artists because of his great work with oil pastels.
• One of the famous artists he influenced was Pablo Picasso.
• His work at the porcelain factory made him love to draw.
• Then he started to use oil pastels and used that as his primary drawing utensil.

•Renoir was an impressionist artist, during his lifetime there were also many other impressionist artist.
•Renoir became famous for his painting called “ Girl With the Watering Can”.
•He also became famous for his painting called “The Umbrellas”.

• On December 3,1919 Renoir went to the Louvre to see his old painting.
• While in the city Renoir died because of an heart attack.
