From the Principal’s Desk The Fathering Project – Quirindi Public School Launch Our Quirindi Pubic School Dad's Group launch event 'Paper Planes and Pizza' is fast approaching and RSVPs are steadily coming back. This event is about engaging fathering figures in our community to spend quality time with their children in a fun and supportive environment. All students should have brought home their personalised invite last week. PLEASE RETURN YOUR NUMBERS/ORDER FORM by next Friday 23 August so catering can be finalised. The Paper Planes and Pizza evening will be held at Quirindi Public School on Thursday 29 August between 5:30pm - 7:00pm. New Classroom Furniture There was some excitement in a number of our classrooms this week with the delivery of some new flexible furniture. Three classrooms have been kitted out with adjustable height, whiteboard top tables to increase engagement, visual learning opportunities and problem solving skills in our classrooms. Our plan is to continue to roll this furniture out to all classrooms to continually build the teaching and learning resources in our school. Education Week Assembly Thank you to the visitors who came along to our Education Week celebration last Friday. It was a fantastic assembly where we celebrated a large number of our students who have demonstrated excellent attendance throughout Semester 1. Our amazing choir under the guidance of Mrs Schultz and Mrs Drummond performed and the assembly was closed with a beautiful, video tribute to our teachers coordinated by 5/6M. State Neball Day one: From Tuesday 30 until Thursday 1 August 2019 our North West Netball team went to Orange to play in the NSW state championships. It started on the Tuesday at 7:30 for the presentation to greet all of the players and umpires. After the presentation, we had to play our first game at 10:30am against Hunter who were tied winners from last year. Sadly, we lost our first game but we got more and more confident with playing together. Our second game was against North Coast. By the second quarter we started to click and played like we have never played before. With all of that hard work we won our first game by 1 point.
Day two: Our first game was at 9:40am against Sydney South West. After a very tight game we had a draw. This was a big achievement for us, a country regional team nearly beating a prestigious Sydney team. We had another three games that day against Polding, Riverina and Barrier. After that we had a team dinner with all players and the coaches.
Day three: It was our last day and we were exhausted from all of our effort we put into our previous nine games over the past two days. We had to dig deep because we had another four games to go, we all gave our hardest but unfortunately, we lost all of those games. That didn’t matter for the team because we tried our best and we all had good fun and represented our schools with pride. By Olivia Cowan Regional Bank The P&C was awarded a donation of $579.81 from the Regional Australia Bank Community Partnership Program for the 2018-19 year. Anyone who has a Regional Australia Bank account can nominate Quirindi Public School P&C as the organisation they wish to support for this program and Regional Australia Bank will give a donation equating to 1% of their average account balance each year. Thank you to Regional Australia Bank for their support of our P&C. Messages from the Office No hat no play As parents are aware the school has a Sun-Safe Hat Policy which was approved by the school community. School hats must be worn during any outside activities. Those parents who cannot provide their children with a school hat are asked to contact the Principal. Lost Property Once again our basket is overflowing with clothing that cannot be returned to the rightful owners as the articles are not labelled. If you think your child may have lost clothing this term, please come to the office to look through the lost property. All unclaimed clothing will be sent to a local charity shop or washed for the clothing pool at the end of next week. Head Lice There has been an outbreak of head lice at the school. Head lice are very common, however they should be treated quickly to prevent them from spreading to other students. If you require information to help in the treatment of head lice, please contact the office for an information letter or the local pharmacy for advice.
