food- the people of the plateau hunted buffalo, salmon, and other large game,

like elk and deer, etc...- they also hunted plants and berries for food with wooden sticks- they used bows, harpoons, traps and spears

clothing- The people wore clothing that usually represented class or season.- Plant clothing in the summer and thick furs in the winter- women were very skilled weavers- used porcupine quills and seashells to decorate clothing

- during the winter they dug out pit houses for shelter- the roof was made of log rafters and was above the surface- they also used the tipi sometimes- also used the tule mat lodge

- they dwelt in Saskatchewan, B.C., Alberta, and Alaska- they used snowshoes in the winter and dugout sturgeon nosed canoes in

the summer- dog sleds were used to transport logs

Social Organization- were fairly classless groups- chief was chosen by elders because of his abilities- the chief could persuade but couldn’t force- the type of shoes they wore showed some of their class (deer hide showed

higher class)

We traded with the people of the northwest coast.-we traded furs for seashells which we used for decorating clothing.

We encountered the Blackfoot (people of the plains).-buffalo hunting grounds lead to conflict and fighting.
