Product: ABU molding part analysis
1. Background
The PNAML received two (2) groups of housing P.N. 355.2140.2000, 353.2142.4000 and 353.2142.5000 (Fig. 1);groups were identified as PPM and PEBAC and samples as their part number. Small piece from each sample (5–10mg) was cut and analyzed by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to obtain materials’ characteristic peaks. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was run for obtaining the thermal stability and content of inorganic material(s) and themelting and solidification points were obtained utilizing the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
Figure 1. Samples as received
2. Conclusion
The FTIR results show that 353.2142 samples are made of Nylon 6/6 (Polyhexamethylene Adipamide) and 353.2140samples from Polyether Sulphone.
The DSC analysis provided that all 353.2142 samples don’t present significant differences between them in melting and solidification points.
TGA analysis shows thermal stability in PPM group from 353.2142 samples looses less polymer around 500ºCcompared to PEBAC sample this could be attributed in pureness of some additive or base polymer; in inorganiccontent (including additives, antioxidants, colorant, etc) shows slight differences. On the other hand, PPM355.2140.2000 sample present a higher amount of inorganic content (including additives, antioxidants, colorant, etc)compared to PEBAC sample. This behavior could be attributed to additives and/or regrind material present in moldedpart.
For further information please contact evaluator; for the results, refer to the following pages.

3.2. TGA. All samples were heated up to 900 °C with a heating rate of 20 °C/min under nitrogen atmosphere in
order to find their inorganic content (glass/ceramic particles plus some additives). Results can be seen in Figs. 4 and 5.

3.3. DSC. To obtain melting and solidification points, samples were heated from room temperature to 360ºC with a heating rate of 10 °C/min under nitrogen atmosphere, kept 3 min to erase material thermal history and then cooled and heated again. Fig. 6 and table summarize obtained results.
