You will have 5 hours to spend at the Folk Festival. Be sure to check out one of the festival's busiest and most popular attractions! The festival's world-famous Quilt Barn features over 2500 traditional handmade quilts and wall hangings on display and for sale throughout the entire festival. Plus their fully stocked quilt shop sells all the notions and hard-to-find items quilting enthusiasts look for, including the finest quilt fabric and exquisite miniature framed quilts! The festival also features over 200 of America's finest craftsmen and folk artists! People from all over the world come to one of the country's largest gatherings of traditional craftsmen as they demonstrate and explain the process involved with creating such wonderful pieces. When you get hungry, you'll have no trouble finding something good to eat. It's Pennsylvania Dutch tradition that meals should be scrumptious and plentiful, and this is fully understood at the festival. Tasty selections abound, with items ranging from snacks to lunches to family-style dinners. Don't miss another long-held tradition, the 19th-century bread oven, one of the oldest in Pennsylvania, where bread is baked daily. Children’s activities include animal exhibits, hay mazes, do-it-yourself murals, rides, and more. After a short restroom stop on the way, we will begin our day with a delicious brunch at the Penn Wells Restaurant featuring a waffle bar, eggs benedict, French toast and much more plus a variety of lunch favorites. Then, take a short walking tour of downtown Wellsboro, where you will feel like you have stepped back in time while viewing the beautiful well-kept homes, and the distinctive gaslights which line main street, followed by a driving tour through the historic town. After the tour, we will make our way to the PA Grand Canyon Overlook and Visitors Center. Pine Creek Gorge, otherwise known as the 'Grand Canyon of PA', is a classic example of a canyon cut during the Ice Age, primarily the result of water overflowing a former glacial lake. The canyon meanders through a vast wilderness landscape of breathtaking beauty and unparalleled views ablaze with the vibrant colors of autumn. The visitor’s center will provide a look back at the formation of the gorge through an introductory video and exhibits. Now, it’s time to take a closer look at the canyon with a 2-hour long covered wagon ride into the Upper Gorge along the Pine Creek. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Following our covered wagon ride, we will depart for home with a dinner stop along the way.
