Over time I have read my fair share of vampire
novels, So when I first heard of this book I was
a bit weary about how I would feel about it.
However when I picked it up I found my self unable to
put it down. The plot is a refreshing change from the
resent Teen books which feature a Vampire as the main
character. It is fast pace and full of interesting twists
that keep you flipping the page for more.
The “Immortal Rules” is set in the future were Vam-
pires are ruling over humankind, The people are
treated as “Blood Cattle” in the “Vampire Cities”.
The population is split into three types of people: The
registered, who give their blood to the Vampires in ex-
change for food and supplies. The unregistered are the
people that are free... well to an extent, they do not
have the rewards that a registered would, such as food
supplies in exchange for there blood, so they spend
most of there day scavenging for food to survive. The
other type is the “Pets” as they are fondly called, these
are people who have been raised by the Vampires to be
completely loyal and they are the ones who keep every-
one in line. It is in one of these cities that we meet our
main girl “Alison Sekemoto”. A seventeen year old un-
registered girl who holds a great hatred for Vampires.
“Allie” right from the beginning is a likeable character
who cares for her “Gang” of unregistered, however one
day she is caught by a group of rabid out side the wall
in the “Ruins” (What is left of human civilisation). It is
here where the plot really starts to pick up, when she is
found by a Vampire who gives her the choice to live as
the “Bloodsuckers” she so very much hates or to die. I
will let you guess what she picks.
After staying with her sire
for a few weeks, they are
forced out of the walls of
the Vampire city where she is
left alone in an unknown world.
On her travels through the bar-
on lands we get to watch as she
comes to terms with her new life
and how even though she gave
away her humanity we watch as
our bitter and cynical Allie be-
comes more free with her emo-
tions. The love interest here is
Zeke a young man from a group
of human wanderers looking for
“Eden” a land which is not under
the rule of Vampires.
Now this book is not all
squishy romance like
many Vampire books,
this book has it's dark and vio-
lent moments but this just
makes you admire “Allie” all
the more. I give this book a four
and a half stars, because it is
well written and I feel that this
book is by far the best Vampire
book to have come out in the
past few months. I really en-
joyed and am waiting in antici-
pation for the next book, out in
April. Mark you calendars for
this is a must read!.
Born at Midnight a “Shadow Falls Novel” is my number one because Ithas an original idea of a supernatural “camp”. Though the book/serieswe follow Kylie Galen who discovers that she is not as normal as she
thinks she is. At Shadow falls she discovers new friends and a unique gift tospeak to the dead. However not all is good for our girl Kylie.... she doesn’t fitinto a group, an unknown species of supernatural. Together we will find outjust who and what she is.
The Summoning a “Darkest Powers Novel” is my number two because itwas fun and was easy to follow. The story is based around the life andevents of Chloe Saunders a girl who can see spirits and because of this is
sent to Lyle House a group home for troubled Teens, here she meets othersthat all have there own problems. In this book we watch as they discover thatthey are not all that different from each other and see how they are all con-nected.
The Immortal Rules a “Blood of Eden Novel” made it as my numberthree because of gripping action that left you hanging on every word. The book follows Alison Sekemoto in her adventurer in her new life as
the undead. We watch as she struggles to keep her humanity and her identityas a vampire a secret from a group of people she helps find the sacred islandof Eden where it is free of her kind and where the people are free.
Alice in Zombieland a “White Rabbit Chronicles Novel” made it to fourwith its unique ideas on the well used Zombie theme. The plot is basedaround Alice Bell who after losing her family in an accident starts to
see the “monsters” her father always warned her about. In an act of revengewe watch as she learnt how to fight these monsters and falls in love along theway.
Every Other Day is my number five for its interesting plot and twists. The book is based around Kali D'Angelo who is not always as humanas see seems... Every other day she is more. A hunter of supernatural
creatures, though she does not know what she is or how she came to be likethis she acts on her instincts to hunt. Through this book we find out secrets ofher past as she struggles to save the life of popular girl in her class as well astrying to keep her self alive as well.

The Iron King a “Iron Fey Novel” is my number six for its twist on the nor-mal faery stories, In this book the Fey are creatures who would soonereat you then help you and are very dangerous. The main character of this
book is Meghan Chase a seemingly normal almost forgettable sixteen year oldwho's younger brother gets taken by the Fey, on this adventure she learns thatshe is the Daughter of the Summer King and half-Fey watch as she strugglesto adapt to this dark, dangerous new world.

Firelight is my last on my top ten, now this does not mean it is boringor anything of that sort, this book is highly interesting. In this bookthe author creates her own supernatural species the “draki”, which
are Dragons with the ability to turn into humans. The main character ofthis story is Jacinda who has a rare ability to breathe fire, this gift has notbeen seen in years. However for her own protection from the other “draki”her family flee to a human town in the desert.
