A new 4-H club in Ashland County
located on Bad River
Rezberries is working toward shaping leaders
for tomorrow and better places to live for
everyone. Getting involved in a 4H club can
help kids learn about civics, their communi-
ties and bring families closer together
through project work.
One of the neat things about 4-H is that you can do the projects you like and show them at the county fair. You get to learn something new and practice what you love. Here are just a few pro-jects you might be interested in: (there are many more options to choose from)
Dog obedience, raising bunnies or chickens
Painting, drawing, beadwork, leather craft
Growing vegetables, harvesting maple syrup
Writing, music, theater
Lego models, rockets, computers
Archery, cross-country skiing, rock-climbing
4-H operates at the county, state, national and
international level. As a member, you could go to
the state 4-H conference, summer or winter
camps, or even Space Camp in Alabama.
Please visit the Ashland County 4-H UW-
Extention website for more information about

Now imagine a beautiful summer day and you want to go to the beach. You get there and instead of finding beer cans here and there, you find open space to lay down and enjoy yourself. That was Rezberries that cleaned up that beach. That’s the kind of service projects we’re plan-ning to do. We also hope to do in-tergenerational activities with elders on projects like fairy gardens and valentine activities.

Our club will also focus on practicing
and promoting our traditional Ojibwe
culture. Some things we have planned are
having guest speakers, working on bead-
ing projects, and making outfits for pow-
wow. We also will explore ways to share
our pride in our culture through plays
and demonstrations.
You may never learn how to shoot a
bow with your toes, like the girl in the
picture above, but you can learn safe
and effective shooting techniques. We
hope to partner with other organiza-
tions for training and practice in riflry
and archery. It’s a fun and healthy ac-
tivity you can enjoy throughout your
life.
