Radiotherapy Research
Seminar Series
Why are we offering this and why would you
wish to attend?
Who is this session for?
This is relevant to qualified and student therapy radiographers but we
welcome attendance from anyone with an interest in the topic area
or an interest in research.
If you would like to attend please contact Gemma Burke
([email protected]) or Laura
Charlesworth([email protected])
Sessions are outside formal conference attendance,
see leading professionals in your field present their research experiences
Ask questions and discuss topics with colleagues,
sharing your experiences with students who also attend the seminars
Free CPD activity
Staff have previously commented...
“These seminar series are invaluable. It's really
informative and useful for radiotherapy students to
actually see what trials and studies are being done
currently, and how this may impact on future clinical practice. Also, useful for our own studies”
AND
“Excellent and very interesting and enjoyable. Extremely
well explained concepts and insight into related research”
The SuPPORT 4 All study team have created a novel bra (S4A
bra) for patients to wear during radiotherapy treatment for breast
cancer. This presentation will focus on the pre-clinical testing of
the S4A bra using a non-invasive imaging system called 3D
stereophotogrammetry (3dMD). This system was used to
evaluate breast positional accuracy in relation to anatomical
landmarks in 20 healthy volunteers. The results of this study,
and the potential for 3dMD to be used to evaluate other
immobilisation devices for radiotherapy will be discussed.
Topic: Investigating tools to assess reproducibility of immobilisation devices for radiotherapy.

Keeley RosbottomKeeley’s background is in BSc Medical Sciences (IIi hons) which she studied
at the University of Leeds, from this degree stems her passion and interest in
anatomy and physiology.
After graduating she worked as an Intelligence Analyst for West Yorkshire
Police before undertaking the PGDip Radiotherapy & Oncology course at
Sheffield Hallam University. She graduated in 2008 and worked at St James'
hospital in Leeds as a Radiographer and then a Specialist Practitioner.
At St James’ hospital she was a key trainer in Moving and Handling,
delivering training to staff and students. She worked in pre-treatment and on
the treatment machines.
She joined Sheffield Hallam as a lecturer in April 2012 since then she has
completed her MSc in Radiotherapy & Oncology and PGCert ed. in Learning
and Teaching in Higher education. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education
Academy and is involved in teaching Undergraduate, Postgraduate and
International students being module leader on 2 undergraduate modules and
the professional issues lead for all students. She is the Professional
Development Facilitator at Royal Derby hospital.
She is seconded to the Support 4 All research project and started her PhD
part time in September 2015. Her research interests include using 3D
Stereophotogrammetry to evaluate new immobilisation devices for tissue
stabilisation, positioning and accuracy during radiotherapy treatment.
