NP20-R
Quick Guide
Warranty
NP20-R has a 24 month warranty on the electronic parts, running from the date of purchase. The warranty will not be valid in case of tampering with the device or in case personnel not authorized by the manufacturer or by the authorized dealer should carry out work on it. N.B. responsibility of the purchaser: in case of operation under warranty, the device must be packaged so as to prevent damage during transport and shipped to the manufacturer together with all the accessories. Warranty rules 1. In order to exercise his warranty rights, the purchaser must enclose with the device a copy of evidence of purchase duly stamped by the dealer (bill/invoice). 2. The warranty lasts for 24 months for the electronic parts. The warranty is granted at the point of sale or else directly requested from the manufacturer. 3. The warranty only covers damage to the product which makes it work badly. 4. Work under warranty will only mean repairing or replacing, free of charge, any parts acknowledged to be defective during manufacture or in their material, including labour costs. 5. The warranty does not apply to damage caused by negligence or failure to comply with the instructions, or damage caused by unauthorised people, with a special reference to the outside parts. 6. Also, the warranty does not apply to damage caused to the device by connection to unsuitable power sources. 7. The warranty does not cover parts subject to wear after use, or the container if the material is not defective. 8. The warranty does not include transport costs, which will be paid for by the purchaser in relation to the manner and time of transport. 9. The warranty will run out after 24 months have elapsed. In this case, service will be provided charging for the parts replaced, labour costs and transport according to the current rates. 10. Any dispute will be settled exclusively before the Court of Law of Venice. Limitations of Liability
InOut not be held responsible for a possible loss of data on Hard Disk. The costs for possible recovery of
corrupted data will be incurred by the buyer.
Safety rules Read carefully the following warnings to keep your and others safety, for the right use of the device and to avoid warranty invalidation. 1. Do not expose the device to rain or high humidity. Protect the device from accidental liquid penetration, if it happens, stop using the device and apply to qualified or authorized personnel. 2. Do not insert things into the device through the openings to avoid risk of fire or electric shock. 3. Disconnect the device from the light socket before make any operation for the internal device configuration. 4. If the original power cord is waste or deteriorate, replace it with a similar one. 5. Disconnect the device from the light socket before make cleaning operations. Clean the
device with a dry and soft cloth. Do not use liquids or spray that can contain flammable elements. 6. Device handling must take place only when all the cables have been disconnected. 7. Device maintenance must be done only by qualified personnel. 8. For any requirement or technical information contact InOut or authorized personnel.

Introduction
NP20-R is an advanced network audio player, unlike any other audio player.
An internal hard disk stores a large amount of audio content. All most popular digital audio file formats,
lossy such as mp3 or lossless such as wav, are perfectly managed.
Audio selections are played based on programmed playlists, a playback scheduler and/or network
commands. An application for Windows and Linux operating systems is freely provided for an easy control
via PC, laptop or tablets connected on the same wired or wireless network.
Network control of NP20-R and interaction with other equipment is accomplished using its Linux server
based operating system, that connects NP20-R to LAN or WAN for TCP/IP control and that privileges,
security, reliability and performance.
It embeds standardsbased interfaces, enabling developers to build a variety of remote management
scenarios that:
-Determine status and send commands using TCP-IP raw.
-Program automatically generated events and notifications via e-mail.
Connection to network is provided by 100/1000BaseT Ethernet.
NP20-R is designed for rapid implementation. Both stand-alone and large scale integration is possible.
Main features of NP20-R
Local storage and Network Sharing
NP20-R has an internal standard enterprise hard drive. This is capable of providing months of nonrepeating
audio programming, stored on the advanced InOut Storage that has a capacity an order of magnitude
higher than traditional storages.
Program management using playlists
Automatic playback is accomplished using the playlist function. The NP20-R playlist functions offer the
following:
- Playlist creation.
- Popular software may be used to create M3U playlists to be imported in NP20-R.
- Playlist export in M3U format.
- Playlist can be started by:
Date/time programmed parameters
In programmed sequence
Via TCP/IP commands
Programmed events.
Loop of playlist and cross-fade option can be activated.
A powerful scheduler adds the flexibility to add time- and date-dependent announcements and jingles.
The NP20-R maintains a detailed history of all files played and significant system events. This is useful in
providing proof-of-play when selling advertisements.
TCP/IP network connectivity and services
NP20-R as an audio object on the network, is remote controlled using Telnet consoles, TCP connections and
SNMP managers. Standard TCP/IP management enables quick building, with simple network strategies and
minimum expense, huge extranet networks for background music applications.
Content providers are able to personalize each BGM location thanks to the management flexibility provided
by the NP20-R. An Ethernet interface is provided to connect locally or globally via any TCP/IP network such
as the Internet.
NP20-R does not require a dedicated network and it has a DHCP client to obtain an IP address and network
parameters from a server.
Via easy-to-use GUI, NP20-R can import or update its digital audio data files and playlist content from USB
storages, SMB network share.
Management options include:
-Applications for Windows (XP,7 and Vista) and Mac Operating systems.
- TCP/IP: Using a regular TCP connection you can remotely control one or several NP20-R’s from an
external application.
-NP20-R also offers the ability to send e-mails over the network.
-The operating system is embedded in the NP20-R to enable developers to build automation
applications and complex systems.

Installation
Choose to place the InOut NPR20 according to the following:
Place it near an Ethernet port
Fig. 4
Place it on a solid surface capable of at least 3 Kg
Fig. 5
Let enough room near the fan to allow a good air flow. In case of vertical mounting the fan should
be placed upside.
