Leveraging Urban Nature for Livable Cities• March 11, 10am-12pm, At Capital Factory, 701 Brazos St, 16th Floor• Bringing nature back into our cities – what are the do´s and don’t´s. And how can we put
a value to blue-green infrastructure.• The natural green and blue infrastructure of the cities provide to the City and its
inhabitants services like storm water management, air purification, There is a growing interest in the role of functional Nature in the cities and these services and functions can be enhanced with evidence based design. We present case studies where the value of green and blue infrastructure is highlighted and project examples how these functions and services have been enhanced.
• Panelists:• Ramboll (Finland) - Urban Nature for liveable Cities, the value of urban nature – function and services• SWA Group (US – to be confirmed) - Urban Nature in Global sense – high profile global examples how the
Urban Nature can be implemented in Landscape design• City of Austin (to be confirmed) - The US perspective
Can Climate be a Driver for City-Led Innovation?
• March 12, 5:00pm-7:00pm at Palm Door, 508 E 6th St• How can cities and companies benefit from the transition to a low-carbon economy, as they adapt to the
evolving climate changes? Moreover, how can innovation help to mitigate risks?• Societal challenges connected to climate changes have become an increasingly strong driving force for
new solutions for urban development, and thereby new business opportunities. The demand for sustainable solutions is increasing, which also changes the conditions for technological development and innovation.
• In this Nordic-American session, we will explore how climate change has spurred new and innovative approaches to urban design in the Nordic countries and in the US. We will share opportunities for action, as well as concrete solutions. Furthermore, we will discuss business-driven approaches to collaborative climate innovation and people-oriented design processes.
