WHAT? Global partnership initiative
WHAT FOR?
To scale-up investments in statistical capacity
WHO? UK, Netherlands funding / World Bank managing
HOW? Providing grants to support countries, as a catalyst with the hope that the demonstration effect will encourage governments to increase funding for statistics
To make sustainable improvements in the production, availability and use of quality statistics, to increase capacity in policy formulation and decision-making for development.

2. THE PROJECT: DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES (1/2)
- 7 pilots countries: Afghanistan, DRC, Ghana, Lao PRD, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal
-Nigeria :
- Focuses on 6 Pilot states (Anambra, Bauchi, Edo, Kaduna, Niger, Ondo), NBS and NPoPC.
- Total grant: $10m
- Length: 3 years (2011-2014)

3. ROLE OF THE WORLD BANK
- Worked with Nigerian government and Implementing agencies on the preparation of the Project document
- Supervises the implementation of the Project
- Provides Technical advice and Knowledge sharing as requested
- Monitors the project, and will evaluate impact
- Is the interface between pilot countries and donors
- Worked with NPoPC, NBS and SSAs on Needs assessment and Work plan
- Is coordinating the donors community in statistical development
