This Sunday Today’s radio broadcast is given to the Honor and Glory of
God by the families and friends of FPC. The altar flowers today were left in loving memory of
Egon & Clara Schriewer, long-time members of the church. Their grandson, Trey Hartman, was married to Tiffany
Burgess in the church yesterday, with Reverend Huckaby officiating. The newlyweds would like to thank the church, church staff, and Rev. Huckaby for graciously welcoming
them as guests in the church.
On Sunday, December 8, 2019, the members of the church will gather in Schumann Hall following the regularly scheduled 10:30am worship services for our Annual Congregational Business Meeting. Items included on the agenda for this meeting will be, the election of officers for all of the various boards of the church and the church council and the approval of the 2020 operating budget. All members are invited to attend and prayerfully take part in these very important meetings in the life and ministry of The First Protestant Church of New Braunfels, which will have a significant impact on the church well into the future.

Today’s Guest Pianist:Ryan Lopez is 13 years old and is a student of Sharon Weideman. For our Special Music, he will be performing Rêverie, by Claude Debussy. Rêverie is a very beautiful piece that was composed in 1890. Claude Debussy was known to be distressed when he composed Rêverie. This piece is an overall simple form and within each section, you will find clear artistic balance. In general, lightness, clarity, calm control and serenity are within this winsome, enchanting work.Ryan currently attends Church Hill Middle School, where he plays clarinet, violin, trumpet, piccolo, orchestral percussion, ukulele, piano and various other instruments. He also plays in the School Band and his favorite piano music is Classical. Ryan lives here in New Braunfels with his parents, Bobby and Jessica Lopez.Musical MomentAround 1895, Claude Debussy (1862-1918) wrote his Rêverie, a musical composition often characterized by diffuse style and a dreamy character. The musical language that became the signature sound for him as a mature composer is already evident in this, one of his earliest compositions.

*Apostles’ CreedI believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father, Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
