Annual Day Celebrations
The Annual Day, celebrated on 19th December, 2016 with a spectacular performance,
focused on the theme ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’. The theme aroused a nostalgic mood in the
audience as they moved back in time to ponder how Mumbai evolved from Bombay.
Padmashri, Dr. Tom Alter was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The event was graced
with the presence of Shri Karnire Vishwanath, President Bunts Sangha Mumbai, Shri
Jayaram N Shetty, Chairman and Office Bearer PEC, Shri Ratnakar Shetty Mundkur,
Vice Chairman PEC and esteemed members of Bunts Sangha, Powai Education
Committee, Higher Education and Mahila Vibhag.
Annual Sports Meet
The Annual Sports Meet on 29th January, 2016, celebrated fitness of not only the body
but also the mind. The Chief Guest Sensei Parvez Mistry briefed the spectators on the
importance of flexibility, endurance and self-defense skills. Shri. Jayaram N Shetty,
Chairman and Office Bearer of PEC, Shri Ratnakar Shetty Mundkur, Vice Chairman
PEC, Shri. Nityanand Hegde Secretary PEC, Shri. Rajendra Shetty Chairman Sports
Committee and other esteemed members of Bunts Sangha, Powai Education
Committee, Higher Education and Mahila Vibhag cheered the students. The Martial
Arts display by the students of CP I and CP II was admirable and much appreciated.
The traditional sports display by the students of Checkpoint got the crowd nostalgic.
Students competed with sportsmanship spirit, determination and grit. The Autumn
House emerged as the winner with the maximum points.
Blessing Ceremony and Farewell
On 12th February, 2016 the Blessing Ceremony and Farewell for students of IGCSE II
and A Levels was hosted by the students of IGCSE-I and AS Levels. The students of
IGCSE-II and A Levels were blessed for their forthcoming exams .The day was a
memorable one complete with engaging ‘One Minute’ games, a ball dance and a salsa
performance all put together to match the ‘Masquerade’ theme.
Shri Jayaram N Shetty Chairman and Office Bearer PEC extended his best wishes to
the students and advised them to avoid unnecessary stress during exams and
reminded them that nothing beats hard work. He also assured them that they can
count on their teachers for guidance.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Ashish Dhakan CEO of Hikvision, shared his success story.
Through his analogies he advised the students not be deterred by failures but rather,
to move on by employing a realistic strategy towards success.
Intra-school Competitions
The Hindi Recitation Competition to promote the National Language was held on
12th February, 2016 for students from CP III – V
‘What’s The Good Word’ competition was held for students from CP III- V on
4th March, 2016..The interesting rounds: Spell the word, Rapid Fire, Identify the
Author kept the participants spell bound. Spring house emerged as the winner
‘In A Minute’ competition for Checkpoint and IG students comprised of fun filled yet
skilled activities such as Tongues Twisters, Defying Gravity and Dressmaking using
newspaper.
Opportunities for Students
Our students were involved in the EUMIND Project ‘Three Generations’ through a
network of schools in India and Europe to promote intercultural learning, global
citizenship, social responsibility and ecological awareness. They conducted a research
on the progress of three generations in six groups : Family Life, School Life, Gender,
Spare Time, Mass Media and Healthy Life .Our students exchanged their experiences
through the first video conference (VC) arranged via Skype on 7th December,2015 with
Vd Perre School followed by the second VC on 11th February,2016 with Trinitas
College, The Netherlands
We have won the Certificate of Excellence - Project 3 Generations for "Best Article-
School Life " 2015-2016.
A Career Fair was organized by KIC UnivAssist on 5th February, 2016. Representatives
from 15 US Universities oriented students and parents on higher education
opportunities in the US.
Litventure Festival
Students of Checkpoint attended the Litventure Festival at Children’s Academy on 12th
December 2016. It was a rare opportunity to interact with renowned authors, writers
and actors like Oliver Lafont, Ketan Bhagat, Gopika Kapoor to name a few.
Visit to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)
On 1st March 2016, 20 students from IGCSE I and AS Levels visited BARC. They got a
glimpse of the Nuclear Programme Organisation of the country. Students marveled at
the display of robots, models and at the magnanimity of the Dhruv Nuclear Reactor. It
was once in a life time opportunity for students and teachers to enter the nuclear
reactor. The visit provided an insight into future areas of research and development
which the students might wish to pursue.
MELUHA
A field trip for students of CP V was
arranged at Meluha-The Fern, an ecotel
hotel. They were sensitized to the
eco -friendly practices carried out by a
commercial organisation to conserve the
environment.
Film Workshop
Mr. Mohit Jadhav, Director of Photography
(Cinema), conducted a workshop in Film
Photography and Lighting for the students of
AS Media Studies on 24th February, 2016 .
Model United Nations
Participation in the Model United Nations
conferences from 19th to 21st February,2016
provided opportunities to students to
represent countries to discuss solutions
to global issues in their respective committees.
Professional Development
Coordinators and faculty were invited as subject experts to share their expertise on the
IGCSE Curriculum and Assessments.

A session on ‘Parenting in the Digital Era’ was
conducted by Head of the Counselling Department

the various displays, track and field events. Chief Guest Mr. Yagnesh Shetty, Founder
President of Chitah Jeet Kune Do Global Sports Federation graced the occasion.
IPC Annual Day
23rd February, 2016 witnessed a dazzling display of talent at the IPC Annual Day. The
theme for the show was ‘The Journey of Life’. The tiny tots, dressed as animals and
circus characters, mesmerized the audience.
