Activities Held In The Month Of
April
Health Week
JSSPS celebrated ‘Heath week’ from the 6th to the 10th of April. Students of grade 3 to 5, signed a ‘Healthy Eating Commitment’, and displayed it in their class. They were addressed by their seniors on the 8th Of April about the benefits of having healthy eating habits. Each student also participated in a speaking activity in which they spoke about their favorite healthy snack.
I’m Special Week Process of Elections For Primary School
Captains One of the important events conducted this month, was the Primary school captain elections. Students who submitted nomination forms were interviewed by a panel of teachers headed by the supervisor. Based on the results of this interview, three successful candidates for each post were shortlisted. Thereafter the hopeful candidates began a process of canvassing for their post. Student voting, and teacher voting was conducted on Thursday. Class marshal elections were conducted on Wednesday. Interested students presented a speech to their classmates. On the basis of this, two students were shortlisted for an interview with the supervisor as well as the coordinator and a class marshal was selected.
I’m Special Week Display of individual talents
This month also sawthe classroom performances of “I’m Special”. This event was an opportunity for each student to display their unique talents for their classmates. The teachers were happy to see that the students performed confidently and enthusiastically. On the 24th the most unique talent from each class performed on stage at a special assembly. Budding dancers, singers, musicians, artists, gymnasts and artists… Grade 5 has them all!
EARTH WEEK
VISIT TO POSH PAWS
On 21st and 22nd April the students of grade 5 visited ‘Posh Paws’ a petting zoo and animal sanctuary in order to learn to love and care for animals.
EARTH WEEK SWITCH OFF INITIATIVE
World Earth Day is celebrated internationally on 22nd April, to mark this day the students of grade 5 participated in a ‘Switch off’ initiative. For this, all electrical appliances were switched off for a period of 8.15 A.M. to 8.30 A.M on 22nd morning. Classes continued as usual during this time and the students learnt a practical lesson in energy conservation
EARTH WEEK ART PROJECTS
All throughout Earth week students brought in remarkably creative displays of craft items made out of waste. The ingenuity and resourcefulness of the exhibits have left the teachers marveling at the talent that our students possess. Each student of grade 5 is also participating in a project to beautify the school walls in an environmentally friendly way by making trees out of their own handprints with the guidance of the school art department.
PRIMARY SCHOOL INVESTITURE CEREMONY
The Primary school Captains were facilitated at a solemn Investiture ceremony conducted on the 29th of April. The newly elected captains received their badges and took an oath to work for the good of the school.
