PRESIDENT'S REPORT
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Break!
Over the holidays we had a product ive working bee. Even
though it was cold and raining we had a terrific turn-out! The
sandpit was topped up with new sand, hedges were trimmed,
tanbark redistributed, leaves were raked and blown, the
outside undercover area was swept, wooden building blocks
were sanded, files were sorted and the foyer and inside the
kinder was given a general t idy up.
To the committee members who attended the working bee
and to all the Eastmont families who turned up in the wet
weather ? you all did an amazing job. Without this support,
Eastmont would not be the place it is.
So thanks to Sarah, Natalie, Ellen, Kath, Michelle, Lynette,
Annette, Dean, Yew-Chin, Renee, Daniel, Stuart , Mick, Nick,
Kathy (plus the enthusiast ic kids we had helping) for all your
hard work.

her all the best in this new and excit ing stage of her life. A
farewell will be happening early this term ? more information

OUR TEACHERS
On Monday and Tuesday the children returned to kinder happy to be back and have quickly sett led back into the rout ine. The children have told us about the fun act ivit ies that they enjoyed during the term break including going to the movies, day trips and going to the park.
During the last week of term one the children were busy making bunny ears using cotton wool and coloured st icky dots and decorat ing Easter egg shapes at the past ing table. This week the children have been enjoying doing marble paint ing using two different paint colours that mix together to make a new colour. They have also been exploring the different natural materials found in our sort ing box and using magnifying glasses to have a closer look. At mat t ime we have been singing the ?Echo Song? and dancing to the ?Animal Twist?
As we are a sun smart kindergarten the children must wear their sunhats for outdoor play unt il the end of April. As the weather gets cooler please ensure that your child has a coat or a warm jacket with them as we play outside every session unless it rains or storms.
A big thank you to all the families that attended the working bee during the holidays. It was great to come back on Monday morning to a very t idy playground with lovely new sand in which the children are really enjoying!
If there are any matters, regarding you child, that you would like to discuss please don?t hesitate to call me on 98744044 for a quick chat or to arrange a suitable t ime for us to meet.

First ly, thank you to the dedicated parents (and
children) who braved the rain on Sunday to attend the
working bee. The children are loving the fresh new sand
and we really appreciate how nice and t idy the grounds
are.
The last week of Term 1 was very busy; the children all
made pirate hats and drew their own maps before going
on treasure hunts outside to discover the gold box with
gold-coloured (plast ic) coins and chocolate frogs.
This week the children are enjoying paint ing with pastel
colours as well creat ing t issue paper past ings. We have
been talking about families and the children have been
drawing who lives in their house. The large sort ing box
with natural materials including shells, pinecones and
bark has fascinated the children who have enjoyed using
magnifying glasses to examine the various textures and
patterns. There are lots of new puzzles and books in the
reading corner and finger puppet characters from some
well-known fairytales at the puppet theatre.
We have been singing lots of songs including the Echo

There will be parent/teacher information sharing

discuss any aspects of their child?s development or

environment.
- We respect individual differences and foster an environment in which
each child and educator is supported and valued for the unique strengths
and interests that they bring to the group.
- We provide opportunit ies that encourage and develop, self-esteem, a

and seek to work in collaborat ive partnerships with them to ensure the
best outcome for all children. We welcome and encourage family
involvement in all aspects of our service.
- We value cultural diversity and acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres
