The New Prideaux

1. The principal entrance to the KCL St Thomas’ Estate

2. A three storey volume, shaped and tuned to its context.

3. Shaped around the courtyard of Block 9, setback from Block 8

4. Focusing views to Victoria Tower and Block 8 corner tower

5. Materiality - harmonising not contrasting (brick / red / contextual

finishes)

6. Open plan flexible working environment at Ground and two

Upper storeys

7. Consideration to concrete flat slab construction / enabling future

adaptability, typically 7.5m column grid

8. A double Basement accommodates Multi-Purpose Room with the

capacity for a 500 seat Lecture seating provision

9. Basement 1 (B1) extends and links through to Block 9

10. Basement benefits from the excavation of the existing lightwell

area in front of Block 8, providing access to light, amenity, and

controlled breakout space

11. Entrance level provides access / egress between Block 8, and Block

9. Includes a Reception, Welcome Area, and Security Welfare

12. Out of Hours - the site can be closed-off with a gate, integrated

into part of the new building

13. New stepped access and platform lift to maintain access to

provision to Block 8

14. New courtyard has a central rooflight for natural daylight to the

new floorplate below and to maintain sufficient floor-to-ceiling

height. The sloping roof slab follows the contours above due the

restrictions on levels.
