1. S5p/TROPOMI and PRISMA

S5P/TROPOMI provides global hyperspectral measure-ments in wide spectral range which can be beneficial foraerosol and surface characterization

PRISMA (PRecursore IperSpettrale della MissioneApplicativa) is an Italian Space Agency (ASI) hyperspectralmission with a swath width of 30 km and with a groundsampling distance of 30 m (hyperspectral), PRISMAmeasurements can be used for environment monitoring atregional scale but with high spatial resolution.

2. Approach for the combined retrievalØ GRASP Retrieval of S5p/TROPOMI measurements:

- Extended aerosol characterization for aerosol typing (size, absorption)

Ø GRASP/PRISMA retrieval :- Aerosol type information from GRASP/TROPOMI

retrieval- AOD retrieval at high (PRISMA) spatial resolution- Surface reflectance at high spatial resolution

3. AOD and surface reflectance at high resolutionfrom the combined retrieval

4. Conclusions and outlookØ Combination of the instruments with coarse and fine

spatial resolution (for example, S5p/TROPOMI andPRISMA) opens new possibilities for aerosol sourcesidentifications at high spatial resolution and aerosolemission/pollution monitoring.

Ø The retrieval from the instrument with coarse resolutionand global coverage can provide information aboutaerosol type and aerosol background.

Ø The retrieval from the sensor with fine spatial resolutioncan use this information to get AOD at high spatialresolution for identification of local aerosol sources andair quality monitoring.

Ø The combined retrieval provides enhanced surfacereflectance characterization at high spatial resolution.

Ø Developed GRASP methodology for the combinationPRISMA+S5p can potentially incorporate other satelliteslike S5p+S2 or S5p+OLCI+S2 etc.
