NEW - NEW - NEW!!! - By Marla Belzowski – Editor
The New Year is here and there is a new
building for YABTC just around the corner, literally!
There is a lot of new changes for the club as well and we
need to get “geared up” for these new things by tossing
out the old! That means there are some old items that will
be auctioned off at our January Members meeting.
Remember - GENERAL MEMBERS MEETING
Monday JANUARY 20th
at 7PM!
We will have new classes starting in the new year and as
always, instuctors and assistants are needed. Please
remember to contact Dale Burrier, [email protected],
to volunteer.
We also need agility instructors, so contact Sharon
Phillips to volunteer. [email protected]
We need some people to volunter to help with moving
items from our old building to our new building in
February. Perri will help to coordinate the final details of
the move. [email protected] contact her to
volunteer.
We need people to donate gift cards and take the time to
sell raffle tickets for our “March Madness” Gift-Card
Calander Raffle. Contact Kim Burrier for detals
Also in March is our Conformation Puppy Match.
Contact Shelley Kacenski for information if the match
flyer doesn’t answer your questions.
And we will have our “Grand Opening
– Leash Cutting” the weekend of June
14 & 15. Saturday will be our “Open
House” for the public and Sunday will
be Obedience/Rally “Show – n- Go”.
Our “Open House Committee” will
have the first Organization Meeting on
January 11th
at 4:00 PM at the club building in the Board
Room. If you would like to volunteer to help with the
planning please come out or contact Marla Belzowski,
This is just the start of our New Years full of
“new-ta-tude”. Stay tuned for more newness to come!
Starting in January
The Cost of Classes are going up in 2014.
8 Week classes will be $100 and 6 Week Classes will
be $80. This is in line with the cost of other classes in
the area.
The Newsletter is going Digital!
Beginning with the January newsletter,
the Newsletter will go “Digital”.
You will receive the Newsletter as
an e-mail PDF file on-line through
your e-mail you have provided to
the club membership list. If you
would like to continue to get it via the
US postal service, please contact Perri
Graf at [email protected] and let her know either by

“March Madness” Mats Fund Raffle
Kim Burrier is putting together information about an
upcoming Fundraiser for the Club using Gift Cards. This
fund raiser will help us order the extra matting needed to
complete the building. Please plan to donate any of those
gift cards you get for Christmas that you do not plan to
use or please donate some good cards for the fund raiser.
Contact Kim Burrier – [email protected] for details.
Leash Cutting & Open House Committee 1st meeting at YABTC Saturday: January 11 4:00 PM - Board Room Area
As we move into the new building, it would be a super
opportunity to host an “Open House” for the community
to get the word out about our club as well as hold a
formal “Ribbon Cutting Event” for publicity.
Though we will already be in the building for our Spring
show and other activities before we can organize a formal
event, this isn’t uncommon for even corporations to have
operations up and running before they host the official
“Leash Cutting Ceremony” for a new facility. Kick-off
of the Ceremony to be June 14 and 15th
to allow the kids
to be out of school.
This is also a great opportunity for a little fund raising as
well as community outreach to promote our classes.
The idea would be to hold a weekend long event, with a
“Meet the Breeds” poster session along the outside of
three “show rings” while we run obedience, agility, rally,
and conformation demos in the rings. We might also
allow the opportunity for kids from the community to
“work” a trained dog for a few exercises with an
experienced handler.
Other activities would potentially include:
Meet the Breeds + Poster Sessions
Obedience Demo
Agility Demo
Rally Demo
Susan Fithian (LEAD) - Conformation Demos
Carting Demo/videos
Tracking Demo/videos
Herding Demo/videos
Bob Samios (LEAD) - Hunting Demos/video
Bake Sale
Vendor booths (small charge for set up)
Sunday - Members only obedience/Rally Match
Radio Station DJ Outside
Formal Ribbon Cutting at 8:00 AM (to include
the Mayor and town officials for a
TV/Newspaper photo opportunity)
If you are interested in being part of the committee to set
up this event contact Marla Belzowski –

From: Marcy Marley 2013 year end recap for the Marley pack
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I decided to organize my
dogs's agility ribbons so I could see what we
accomplished over the past year.
To begin, my teeny
papillon, Firefly,
finished her Teacup
Beginner Agility Dog
(TBAD) title.
My other papillon, River, finished his Teacup Agility
Master (TAM), Teacup Master Agility Games (TMAG),
and Teacup Agility
Champhionship (TACh)
all on the same day!
(Plus he's now halfway
to his TACh 2). River

Brags Continued….
From Marcy Marley
My youngest beagle, Spider,
was also a busy boy. In
ASCA, he finished his
Novice Jumpers and Novice
Standard titles. In United
States Dog Agility
Association (USDAA), he
earned 2 legs toward his
Novice Performance
Standard title and 1 leg toward his Novice P Jumpers title
plus he qualified in Performance Speed Jumping. In
AKC agility, Spider earned his NAP, NAJP, and OAJP
titles and 1 leg toward his OAP title.
Spider's big sister, Meadow, had a great year, also. In
Teacup Agility, she finished her TBAD, Teacup Games 1
(TG1), and Teacup Intermediate Agility Dog (TIAD)
titles. In USDAA,
she earned 1 leg
each toward her
Novice Standard and
Jumpers titles. And
in AKC agility, she
finished her NAP,
NAJP, OAP, OAJP
titles and earned 1
leg toward her EAP
title.
Not to be left behind by her pups, mama beagle Shasta,
finished her TG1 title in Teacup agility and earned 1 leg
toward her TG2 title. And in AKC agility, she finished
her NAP, NAJP and OAP titles plus has 1 leg toward her
OAJP.
My oldest beagle, Willow, was on the injured reserve list
for most of the year, however, she earned 1 leg toward her
Teacup Superior Agility Dog (TSAD) title.
And, last but not least, my old man Stormy, though
mostly retired, finished his ASCA Open Veteran Jumpers
title at the grand old age of 14.
Needless to say, I'm very proud of my little pack. We had
great fun in agility this past year and, with luck, 2014 will
be as good.

AJ - Applejacks Frosted Cinnabear OA NAJ CGC HT
AJ aka "Eeyore" earned his first leg in Excellence level
standard agility at the YABTC show Nov 30th with a
First Place! I thought I'd brag this since I'm pretty sure it
won't happen again! The stars must have been aligned for
us. This was especially difficult for me since I was
walking the Open Jumpers course when they were calling
AJ's name to enter the standard course. I remember
losing my way for a split second, you know that "slow
motion" feeling, but recovered quickly. I've also been
doctoring plantar fasciitis which is painful. If you know
AJ, he works right beside me most of the time so I run the
whole course with him. I like running, but like Lotta
says, try to work at a distance. Listen to her, and train
that way if you can. In contrast, my Aussie glue dog likes
to stare at me the entire course... One run, he did
overcame his glue tendency and ran up to the judge, and
much to her surprise, gave her a kiss. If there were any
extra points for this I might try to train this.... but he only
does it for women judges.
Happy New Year everyone!

Don Cohara, Grace's husband, passed away

Desiderata
Go placidly amidst the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career,
however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
You have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labours and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
