New GEO Solar and Wind Rebates
help you save money
In addition to the 30% federal tax credit for solar electric, solar thermal and wind systems,
starting April 19, 2010 the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) is offering rebates for solar electric,
solar thermal, and wind systems. The GEO rebates you qualify for depend on which utility
territory you are located in. You may be eligible for:
Residential: Solar Electric Systems: the GEO is offering $1.50 / Watt up to 3kW ($4,500).
Solar Thermal Systems: the GEO is offering $2,000 plus $45 / kBTU over 23,000 BTU/day up to
$3,000.
Wind Systems: the GEO is offering $1/Watt up to 5kW plus $.50/Watt up to 10kW.
Commercial: Solar Electric Systems: the GEO is offering $1.50 / Watt up to to 10kW ($15,000). Systems
may not exceed 25kW.
Solar Thermal Systems: the GEO is offering 30% of the total system cost up to $15,000.
Wind Systems: the GEO is offering $1/Watt up to 15kW ($15,000). Systems may not exceed
30kW.
Additional Rebates From GEO Partners
Some utilities are offering rebates to be used in conjunction with the GEO rebates. The
combination of GEO and partner funds may not exceed:
Solar Electric Residential - $3/Watt up to 3kW
Solar Electric Commercial - $3/Watt up to 10kW
Solar Thermal Residential - $4,000
Solar Thermal Commercial - 30% of the total system cost not to exceed $30,000
Wind Residential - $2/Watt up to 5 kW plus $1/Watt up to 10kW
Wind Commercial - $2/Watt up to 15 kW for commercial wind.
For example, Mountain View Electric is matching the GEO rebates for residential solar electric
and wind systems so that the total amount available to customers in Mountain View Electric’s
territory is $3/Watt up to 3kW for solar electric, and $2/Watt up to 5kW plus $1/Watt up to
10kW for residential wind. No Mountain View Electric rebates are available for solar thermal in
the Mountain View Electric territory, but GEO rebates are available for solar thermal systems.
