For fi ve decades, keeping drains cleanBy ERICA DRZEWIECKI@DRZEWIECKINBH

For 49 years, the Drain Doctor’s curing and mend-ing methods have been employed in drain and sewer systems across the region.

This family-owned and -operated small business is Central Connecticut’s pre-mier provider of wastewater management services and solutions.

Drain Doctor owner and President Gary Schmidt and his staff utilize the latest technology to expertly repair plumbing systems. They service both residential and commercial properties.

    Crews apply innovative

trenchless technology to repair 2- to 12-inch diam-eter pipes with the patented Maxliner CIPP relining sys-tems. Staff is known for their expertise in sewer pumping and excavating as well as drain and septic tank clean-ing. Specialized combination jet-vac units come into play to clean storm drain catch basins. Whenever necessary, staff also has the ability to conduct video inspection of piping in order to diagnose problems and assess repairs.

The capabilities of the company also include both vertical and lateral pipe relin-ing with branch connection reinstatements.

The company performs pneumatic pipe bursting using Grundocrack systems to repair and replace col-lapsed sewer and storm pipes.

Schmidt and his team are well-known throughout the region for providing profes-sional, skillful and timely ser-vice with a personal touch.

“We currently perform work for all municipalities in and around Central Connecticut, including many manufactur-ing companies, restaurants, apartment complexes and commercial and residential properties due to our large

fleet of equipment and our expertise with local knowl-edge,” Schmidt said. “We are a multi-generational family business, not a franchise, with many dedicated and extremely talented drain-age engineers who have been with the company for decades.”

Drain Doctor is looking forward to assisting longtime clients and forging new con-nections in the community as the company approaches its 50th year in business.
