No 14 for week ending 19 December 2014
Dear Parents and Carers
Nativity
This final week has been a most joyful one in school
with all children taking part in Christmas liturgies.
Well done to all our key stage 1 and Foundation Stage
pupils who celebrated the wonderful Christmas story
through their nativity plays at the start of the week. It
was lovely to see so many parents, carers,
grandparents and parishioners at one of the three
performances. On Monday we were also joined by the
residents from Corbett Court and children from St
Wilfrid’s Nursery. Thank you to all the staff for
preparing the pupils so well, and especially to Miss
Canon who oversaw the whole project.
Key stage 2 pupils celebrated in a more traditional
style with a most beautiful reflective Christmas liturgy
at St Wilfrid’s Church. Thank you to all those who
attended and for the very many congratulations and
positive comments on the pupils’ wonderful singing,
reading and acting.
Thanks must go to
all staff in this key
stage and especially
Mr Simpson and
Mrs Novis who
made it all happen
and who set the very high standard that we have
come to expect!
Living out our Faith
Last Friday
and on
Thursday of
this week,
fifteen year 6
choir
members
visited
residents at
Corbett Court, St Anne’s Convent and St Anne’s Day
Centre for the Homeless to sing Christmas carols and
bring good wishes from all at our school. We are so
proud of the pupils who sang at these venues. They
were a credit to their school and to you their parents
and they showed what it means to really live out then
Christian message of Christmas.
KS1 Pantomime and Parties
Children have had wonderful fun this week enjoying
their class parties and ‘Dick Whittington Panto’. The
actors commented on how well the children engaged
with the pantomime.

Lost Property: Eleanor A IN 1GB has lost her black jogging bottoms which are named. If anyone finds them can they return them or hand in to the office. Thank you. KS1 Universal School Meals: KS1 children have had time to experience their free school meals for the whole of the autumn term. We ask that that any parents who have still opted their child in for school meals that are sending them in with packed lunches make a final decision whether to keep them opted in and have hot school meals or opt them out and always send them in with a packed lunch. The reason we ask this is the kitchen make enough meals for the number of people opted in and therefore if your child has decided to come in with a packed lunch

their hot dinner is wasted and our school is very mindful of waste. Parking: Please remember you can’t park at the Brow Clinic.
We have had several complaints that parents have
been parking during school drop off and pick up on
the road/pavement opposite the clinic where there is
a parking restriction between 8.00am-6.00pm. On
17th December we had a phone call from the Brow
Clinic saying that patients couldn’t get into the car
park due to parents parking in the way with no
consideration for others. The problem seems to be
getting worse and we must remember the most
important thing is the children’s safety in all of this.
Furthermore, if the road is blocked emergencies
vehicles would struggle to get through. If this
continues the Police Road Safety Team will have to
patrol the areas again. We highly recommend that
parents walk with the children to and from school
where possible.
