ndia’s non‐banking financial company (NBFC) are emerging as an alternative to mainstream banking. IBesides, they are also emerging as an integral part of Indian Financial System and have commendable contributions towards core development of Infrastructure, transport, employment generation, wealth creation, economic development despite of all the rapidly changes new technologies. They have been to some extent successful in filling the gap in offering credit to retail customers in underserved and unbanked areas.
Hon’ble Prime Minister, in his vision statement for building a new India by 2022, stressed upon promoting entrepreneurship, greater focus on lower strata of the society and greater use of technology to enhance transparency and efficiency.
NBFCs over the years have played a vital role in financial intermediation in both rural and urban areas. Financing important sectors like MSMEs, road transport, agriculture and infrastructure have been the major strength of the NBFC sector. They have displayed greater flexibility and innovation thereby making them more acceptable and accessible. Adapting the latest technology and best practices, NBFCs have become more user friendly. With a regulation history of 20 years and a regulatory framework which has been harmonized with that for banks and other FIs, NBFCs have shown an impressive performance as displayed by sustained and healthy growth for the last few years.
thASSOCHAM is organising 5 addition of NBFCs Summit in Mumbai with the support of Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC). This will be full day‐long conference, with all leading galaxy speakers of NBFC & MFIs sectors, they will highlighting the overall success of NBFC for Promoting economic growth of India with the case studies; discuss the challenges through panel discussions and exploring ways in which technology is changing the face of this industry.
