Everything was a mess, a literal mess. NSS volunteers picked up everything they found on their way the tracter in which the waste was being dumped was getting filled faster than it was emptied at the dump yard. NSS voluteers ignored the sun and cleaned the village because it was like their home now and we can’t keep our home so dirty. In between we took a break and our programme officer treated us with cold drinks;he knew everyone needs an incentive to work . We carried on with the clean up drive further and returned back by the lunch time. NSS conducted rangoli competion for the village females, they were divided in two age groups below 15 and above 15. The enthusiasm in villagers is unbeatble, be it giving answers for survey, playing games, learning crafts or rangoli competion. We had 20 participants in total. The rangoli they drew made the decision very difficult for the judge our programme officer Mrs. Sunanda B V. After the rangoli competion the villagers conducted games for MCC such as bindi game and keeping maximum biscuts on the scale. Volunteers presented report after returning and shared their experience about the whole camp. It was the most tiring day of the camp but it was all worth it and in the end non-vegetarians were treated with biryani and vegetarians with gulab jamun and tomato rice. All camps are incomplete without a bonfire. Our programme officers arranged a bonfire after dinner and we all enjoyed to our fullest, we were now like a family and village was our home. The feeling that the camp is going to end in a day made us feel nostalgic. NSS volunteers were satisfied with service they did but wanted to contribute more and surely they will contribute to the society and make the world a better place to live in.
