Background:
In today’s era, vast growth is being observed in urbanization and modernization
which leads to application of various advanced technologies of Science and
Engineering. To make up with the ever growing world we should be capable of
applying world’s most recent technologies.
The overall development of Kachchh has been intensified in the last two decades.
With the facilities of biggest ports like Kandla port and Adani port have opened
the doors for rapid growth in the various fields of science and technology. Many
multinational industries like Tata power, AMW, Welspun, Jindal, Electrotherm
etc. have proven as the backbone for the growth of Kachchh. These all has boost
the various fields of science and engineering.
The conference was aimed to bridge the gap between academicians, researchers,
students and industry delegates of same interest on a same platform to share their
experiences, observations in the fields described above. The conference will
certainly ignite the minds of younger generation which may stimulate them to
take up the research.
HJD Institute, Kutch had organized three days National Conference in
collaboration with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) & Gujarat Council
on Science and Technologies (GUJCOST) on “Emerging Research Trends in

the event with their presence on the Dias.
305 Faculties of Engineering College/Polytechnics, B.Sc. college, Professionals,
Industrial Personnel, PG Students/ Research Fellows and UG Students of various
engineering fields such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Computer as well as
Science stream such as Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Microbiology and
Environmental Science from all over the state have come to participate and
present their research work in the National Conference. Mrs. Barnali Keralia,
Head of Electrical Engineering Department has anchored the inauguration
ceremony. All the dignitaries, guests and students had gathered for lightening of
the lamp as per Indian traditions, followed by the GTU theme song.
Principal Dr. Kalpana Maheshwari addressed the audience by giving energetic
speech to all the young researchers. She explained the importance of national
conference and how HJD Institute is contributing towards this initiative. She
acknowledged the work done by NC- Coordinator Mrs. Kinjal Shah Sheth and
her entire NC team. Her words motivated all the young dynamic participants. She
especially thanked Mr. Jagdish Halai to providing such kind of platform to
organize the event.
Dr. C. B. Jadeja congratulated the institute for organizing such kind of event first
time in the rural area like Kera. He put weight for the research on the young
researchers, as what they can think, cannot be done by others. He suggested
youngsters to put efforts to be Job Givers rather than just Job Seekers.
Dr. C. H. Solanki also appreciated efforts of Dr. Kalpana Maheshwari and her
entire team to get this new milestone into their account and congratulated Mr.
Jagdish Halai to have such kind of enthusiastic team in his institute. Also, he

TOPIC: LATEST DEVELOPMENT ON FRP SHEET AS A
STRENGTHENING TECHNIQUE
All engineering structures ranging from an industrial building, a residential
building to power stations and bridges faces degradation or deteriorations.
Replacing these deficient structures requires huge investments and is not a viable
option, so strengthening is developed as the appropriate method for enhancing
the ultimate strength and prolonging their service life. It is not possible to replace
such deficient structure with new structure every time as it requires lot of
investment of money, so strengthening of structure with different techniques
becomes viable option for such deficient structures. Among all such
strengthening techniques to such deficient structures; external application of
Fiber Reinforced Polymer Sheet is becoming more and more popular. They are
quickly becoming the popular over steel for reinforced concrete structures, too.
He encouraged the students to take up more and more research work in this area.
