HOW DO I CONSTRUCT A QUIZ ON EEVEC
A quiz tool called ‘EROS’ (Edinburgh Re-usable Object Sequencer) has been developed for use in EEVeC. Actually, as its name implies, it can also do the job of simply showing a sequence of objects such as images. You can request that a module be set up for you ([email protected]). Your new module will then appear in a link on the left side of your home page called MyCAL. It is then a simple job to set up the pages in order to construct a quiz.
2. THE FIRST PAGE WOULD USUALLY BE AN INFORMATION PAGE TELLING WHAT THE MODULE IS.
1. YOU HAVE A NUMBER OF CHOICES OF PAGE TYPE
ADDING A SECOND PAGE
HAVING ESTABLISHED THE INFORMATION PAGE, YOU CAN NOW INSERT THE FIRST QUESTION PAGE
FIRST STEP OF SET-UP
1. YOU CHOOSE QUESTION TYPE (OFTEN MCQ)
3. YOU CHOOSE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE MARKING AND WHETHER ‘LATENT’ OR NOT.
2. YOU PASTE IN QUESTION (AND ANSWERS AND FEEDBACK) FROM A WORD DOCUMENT
SECOND STEP OF SET-UP
This transmission electron micrograph of a pancreatic acinar cell shows…
..large amounts of Golgi consistent with its secretory function
The cell may well have extensive Golgi but that is not shown here.
...large amounts of rough endoplasmic reticulum consistent with its secretory function
Yes. The cytoplasm is packed with rough ER.
. ...large amounts of smooth endoplasmic reticulum consistent with its secretory function.
No. The smooth ER does not have ribosomes and is not involved in secretion
...large amounts of endosomal membrane consistent with extensive endocytosis.
No The stacked membranes that you see are rough ER

ADD A MATHS QUESTION
THE MATHS OPTION ALLOWS USE OF VARIABLES SO THAT EACH VISIT TO A QUESTION IS DIFFERENT
THE VARIABLE APPEARS BETWEEN ASTERISKS
What is the % occupancy of a receptor with Kd = 100 nM when the free ligand concentration is *A* nM (round to one decimal point)
SET LIMITS OF VARIABLE
YOU ADD THE FORMULA WHICH USES THE VARIABLE (IN THIS CASE THE CONCENTRATION OF LIGAND) TO CALCULATE THE ANSWER (IN THIS CASE THE % OCCUPANCY OF RECEPTOR)

1. HERE IS THE SEQUENCE (THE MATHS QUESTION IS NOT SHOWN). WITH MORE QUESTIONS, THIS WOULD MAKE A QUIZ
