Multi-layered protection concept
OPTEX has become a leader in its field thanks to a unique,
multi-layered approach to security. It has developed products
that protect both the ‘outer’ and ‘inner’ perimeters of a site,
whether that perimeter is a ‘physical’ line such as a fence
or wall, or a ‘virtual’ line to secure a specific ‘area’.

Whatever the need and whatever the environment, OPTEX
understands that the earlier that security personnel are
alerted to a threat, the better they are able to respond and
the better the outcome for all concerned.
Accurate detection for more efficient CCTV operations
OPTEX also understands that its systems need to be designed
specifically with a CCTV surveillance solution in mind, such
that they can integrate seamlessly with cameras and act as
the ‘trigger’ that local or central station operators can rely
upon to prompt an effective response.
The accuracy of the detection is essential to distinguish
a genuine intrusion from an activation triggered by a
disturbance created by changes in the environment, small
animals or vibrations. All OPTEX detectors are designed to
the highest performance level to detect with accuracy and
generate genuine alarms.

Its REDWALL® external detectors have become the de facto standard in reliable outdoor protection, delivering maximum capture rates
and minimum false alarms even in the most demanding environments; the flexibility of its award-winning REDSCAN laser scanner is
such that it can protect both vertical and horizontal ‘zones’ – effectively creating an ‘invisible wall’ that cannot be penetrated; and for
the outer reaches of even the very largest sites, its Fiber SenSys® systems use sophisticated algorithms to detect intruders who are

For critical infrastructure, government facilities, border site sand military installations that require the very highest levels of security
– as well as a host of other environments such as industrial sites and commercial premises, product performance and reliability are
key, as is a ‘strategic’ approach to perimeter protection. For more than 30 years, OPTEX has been trusted by thousands of customers
worldwide for the accuracy and reliability of its detection systems and its ability to develop new sensing technologies.
2 Multi-layered protection for an earlier alarm and a better response
OPTEX has developed outdoor detectors which feature a precise and customisable
detection area by cutting out of the detector’s view obstructions or elements which
are likely to generate false alarms. This enables the system to be very reliable.
OPTEX has also developed a laser scanner detector which when mounted vertically
creates a vertical application, creates a virtual wall, ideal for protecting perimeter
line, walls and windows.
External detectors – whether protecting defined areas or a specific fence or perimeter
– are subject to considerable environmental changes that could impact their performance.
That’s why OPTEX has developed a number of innovative features that allow the products
to be adjusted to take into account distortions caused by light, temperature changes,
wind, vibration etc and
guarantee an exceptional
detection performance.

up independent sensitivity for
the near and far zones.
Most high security installations feature video surveillance, and OPTEX
detectors have been designed to work in conjunction with CCTV to
enhance their performance and efficiency by triggering only genuine
alarms or events. The detectors will connect to any analogue or IP
camera – via an OPTEX IP encoder – and some models will allow the
tracking of people, vehicles or an object across camera pre-set views,
making the operator task easier.

REDSCAN is an award-winning laser detector that identifies the size, speed and distance of a moving object and can function
in effect like an invisible wall. With the ability to be mounted either vertically or horizontally, the REDSCAN is capable of
creating a diverse range of security applications such as protecting buildings from intrusion via the roof, or detecting intruders
in the immediate surroundings of the perimeter line.
Synthesized Intelligent PIR REDWALL SIP Series
The new REDWALL long-range external detector is an intelligent detection system that monitors the temperature and illuminance
of the environment and automatically adjusts its sensitivity accordingly. New and improved design features include mounting height
options of up to four metres; anti-mask and anti-vandal features; and a three axis-accelerometer to warn if the device has been
tampered with or re-oriented. Very easy to install, it promises the highest capture rates with the lowest number false alarms, even
in the most demanding environments.

The REDNET series of photobeams take active infrared technology to a new level, utilising four high power transmitters and four receivers
to create a unique 16 beam ‘net’ configuration to provide unbeatable detection capability. The detector’s improved electronics along with
thermo and light sensors significantly reduce false alarms with no loss in capture rate. This in turn improves efficiency at the central
monitoring centre, as well as reducing the costs associated with false alarms.

Harnessing the latest fibre optic technology – and with the ability to be mounted on fences, in walls, or even buried underground – the
Fiber SenSys systems use sophisticated algorithms to detect intruders who are attempting to climb over, crawl under, or cut through a
perimeter line. These same algorithms are also able to distinguish between genuine intruders and nuisance alarms that might be caused
by wind or small animals. Unlike metallic (coaxial) sensors, the advanced fibre-optic sensing is unaffected by harsh environments,
including UV radiation, moisture, salt, or even lightning strikes.
