Why choose Montessori Centre International?
Montessori Centre International has been hosting training
workshops for many years. What we can offer here is a
range of tutors for different subject areas, a full range of
materials and space in which to practice, and a thriving
atmosphere for study.
You will be part of a group of up to 30 students on the
workshop which will be hosted in a central London location.
London offers unrivalled transport links and a huge range of
accommodation. You will also not be left wanting for
evening entertainment to help you unwind and relax after
an intensive days study.
Montessori Centre International is hosting the rolling
workshop in a London location. Please note that the current
location of delivery may change to an alternative location.
Transport Information
We suggest that you purchase an A-Z as soon as you arrive. They are very helpful
and make getting around London a lot easier. A small book can be purchased at
very reasonable costs. You can also use www.maps.google.co.uk/maps and type in
the address you are looking for.
To plan your journey to the college you can use the Transport for London Journey
Planner on their website www.tfl.gov.uk by putting in post codes or addresses. This
excellent site will give you journey times and maps, as well as fares.
For timetables and how to get from A to B you can call London Transport on 020
7222 1234 for bus and underground information, or National Railways on 08457
484950 for information on train services (www.nationalrail.co.uk).
We suggest that you look up the details for the Pay as You Go Oyster card, this is a
touch-in, touch-out electronic travel pass for use on buses and tubes and with many
national rail services into London. Alternatively, if you have a ‘Contactless’ debit
card, this can be used and costs the same as using an oyster card. Using an Oyster
card a single fare on the tube will be £2.40 in zones 1-2 compared with the £4.90
cash price. The bus will be £1.50 and there is a daily price cap of £4.40 in zones 1-2
on the buses. You can apply in advance online http://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/english/
introduction.htm.
Please note prices as checked May 2016.
Please note that cash payment is not accepted on London buses. You must present
a valid travel card, Oyster card or Contactless debit card when boarding the bus.
Places to Eat and Local Amenities
As I am sure you may be aware, eating out in London can be quite
expensive but there are many familiar chains such as Wasabi, Pizza Hut,
MacDonalds, and KFC all easily found. Sandwich shops and coffee shops
are plentiful for a quick bite at lunchtimes.
As the location of the workshop is confirmed this page will be updated
and all students who have booked onto this workshop will be sent this
information.

Workshop Hours and Preparation
Workshop Hours
You need to attend all 14 of the workshop sessions, the revision and preparation session, and the assessment session.
For all the workshop sessions the hours will be between 9:30am and 4:30pm.
Please check the timetable below for further details on the content of the sessions.
Remember to bring notebook, pens, coloured pencils and a laptop/tablet will be useful to
access the VLE whilst here. The college provides free WiFi throughout the building.
Preparation for Apparatus Workshop
You will need to refer to MCI modules 6 - 10 during the sessions (AEL, Sensorial Education,
Literacy, Numeracy, KUW). We advise you to work from a hard copy, in printed form,
which you can either print off in advance or buy from reception at the college. (The
Literacy and Numeracy modules should be printed in colour). The complete set of PDF’s
of all your Modules is available in the resources folder in Moodle (in the sub-folder
Complete Module Texts).
If you wish to view and work with the modules electronically you will need to bring your
laptop/tablet with you. Electronic devices should be brought to the training centre fully
charged. For health and safety reasons, devices cannot be plugged into the mains in the
classroom.
Prior to the workshop please read all the introduction sections of the curriculum modules
if you have not yet reached them in your schedule. This will support you in the oral
professional discussion that forms part of your final assessment for the workshop.
Students on the Early Years Educator course (EYE) and Introduction to Montessori Practice course (IMP) will take part in a practical assessment and professional discussion on the final day of the Workshop. This is a compulsory component of the workshop.
Early Years Educator students will be assessed against a range of assessment criteria which will be either met or not met. Any outstanding assessment criteria not met during the practical assessment and professional discussion will need to be reassessed through an additional and final assessment opportunity. This may involve having to attend an additional workshop, dependent on the assessment criteria not met.
Introduction to Montessori Practice students cannot be awarded with the MCI certificate unless the practical assessment is successfully completed. Students who do not successfully complete this part of the course are invited to book for another workshop, which will incur an additional charge.
The practical assessment and professional discussion will last approximately 1½ hours and you will be allocated a specific time during the workshop. The schedule will arranged with you during the workshop.
