At the end of 2014 the NSW Treasury and Department of Premier and Cabinet moved to new innovative premises at 52 Martin Place, Sydney. This move was central to NSW’s overall drive to explore a new working environment for Government.
In order for this process to be a success, the Departments involved undertook a complete transformation of their operations to achieve a successful implementation. This involved a detailed evaluation of the people and culture, coupled with a strategy to maximise its impact.
This site tour will offer a unique opportunity for other Government Departments to tour the site and gain an understanding of how a similar model could be implemented into their own property strategy. The tour will commence with the CIO of Premier and Cabinet, followed by a Q&A session to help build a strategy for your own journey.
The workshop will explore:• Why Premier and Cabinet took the decision to move towards ABW• The main roadblocks they had to overcome• How they transformed the culture to adopt an innovative outlook• Steps taken to improve collaboration and productivity of the employees• Technologies used to enable the transition• Future drivers for the Department to adopt a more flexible working

One of the major hurdles for Government in their transition towards more innovative working environments is the structure and culture of the organisation. The public sector is vastly different to its private counterpart and has many hierarchical issues which make change difficult to manage.
