and chest injuries
• Door opening & openability ,
fuel leakage after impact

• Multi-layered honeycomb
• Five step star ( ) rating★ - based on head, chest, abdominal,

Side Impact Test
Rollover Test
• Calculate a vehicles SSF
(static stability factor) at rest
• Dynamic maneuvering tests
- using fishhook pattern
- measure the vehicles inside tires
lift off the pavement
- tip : both inside tires lift
at least 50mm off simultaneously
• Five step star ( ) rating★
TT

SSF = SSF = T : Track widthT : Track width H : Center of gravity heightH : Center of gravity height
• Test method
- vehicle is stopped abruptly
at a speed of 100kph
- wet and dry road conditions
- all vehicle are equipped with ABS
• Classified into one of four
geometric zones• Measure distances
- from the top of head to
the top of restraint
- from the back of head to
the front of restraint
• Vehicle stopping distance
• Stability of vehicle at a 3.5m lane
Braking Performance Test
Head Restraint Test
Brake and Head Restraint Test
Statistics and Future Plan
• The new car sales of small truck (not more than 1ton) were 9% of all new car sales.
• The largest share of fatalities in car accident was pedestrian as 39%.
• The half of frontal crashes was offset crashes.
• The number of neck injured persons by rear-end collisions were approx. 260,000.
• There was severe injuries on the head by pole side impact.
• An Euro SID2 and progressive type honeycomb for side impact test shall be adopted in 2007.
