Mitos FREE FLOW® Valve Teq Speqs
Elements are available in three materials: platinum-cured silicone, STA-PURE®, and CHEM-SURE® tubing. STA-PURE and platinum-cured silicone elements feature molecularly bonded molded silicone ends with integrated gaskets. CHEM-SURE elements feature 316L stainless steel crimped ends. For custom elements such as manifolds, sampling systems and continuous tubing, please contact your sales representative for details. Elements can be cleaned and sterilized by SIP/CIP and autoclave.
STA-PURE and CHEM-SURE elements are rated for 60 psig line pressure and 40 psig bar steam conditions. Silicone elements are rated for 30 psig steam conditions.
Valve Element
Each valve tubing element is shipped in sealed virgin polyethylene with a label denoting part number, lot number and description. A Certificate of Conformance is included with each shipment certifying that each element passes USP Class VI, cytotoxicity, physicochemical and visual inspection tests.
Certification & Packaging
The Mitos FREE FLOW Valve is designed specifically for the biotech industry. Its stright-through bore and peristaltic pump action eliminate turbulence to significantly reduce shear in the process line.

Cycle TestingExtensive open/close cycle testing has been performed on the FREE FLOW valve with the following results:
Ambient > 5,000,000 cycles40 psig steam > 40,000 cycles
BodyAll metallic components are 304 stainless steel. Valve sealing anvils are Techtron PPS polymer.
ActuatorPneumatic actuators feature springs of 17-4PH stainless steel and fasteners of 18-8 stainless steel. The air inlet line is a 1/8” NPT connection. The seals are either Viton or EPDM, depending on application. Stem guides are PEEK. GE silicone gel is used for lubricant and the piston stop is PVDF.
Standard manual actuator inserts are PVDF to provide mechanical strength and wear resistance. Mitos also offers a 10% glass-reinforced PTFE insert for customers sterilizing the valve by autoclave or cleaning by chemical soak.

Mitos FREE FLOW™ Valve Mitos FREE FLOW™ Valve
How It Works
The Tubing Element
Element Materials
Mitos Technologies' patented FREE FLOW™ valve is the only valve
designed specifically for the biotech industry. Available in stainless
steel or titanium, each FREE FLOW™ valve has a tubing element with a
single-wetted surface that eliminates seams, crevices and entrapment
areas, making it the cleanest valve in the industry.
The simple action of the Mitos FREE FLOW™ valve mirrors that of a
peristaltic pump. When activated via a pneumatic or manual
actuator, the flexible tubing element inside the body is squeezed
shut. When reopened, the element presents a completely
unobstructed flow path for fluid transfer. This straight-through
bore significantly reduces shear in the process line and allows full
drainage from any position, eliminating the need for complex
installation.
All FREE FLOW™ tubing elements have molded tri-clamp ends with
integrated gaskets to reduce seams between gasket faces,
providing unsurpassed cleanability via SIP/CIP or autoclave. The
standard element for the Mitos FREE FLOW™ valve is STA-PURE®
tubing, a unique composite of platinum-cured silicone and Teflon®.
Platinum-cured silicone elements are also available for manifold or
single-use applications. For added chemical resistance, elements
can be made from CHEM-SURE™ tubing.
STA-PURE® Element
- Successfully tested for millions of
open/close cycles at 50 psig line
pressure
- Withstands the toughest
clean-in-place/steam-in-place
(CIP/SIP) conditions
- Proven to perform well under 40 psig
steam conditions
CHEM-SURE™ Element
- Endurance benefits identical
to STA-PURE® tubing
- Handles nearly all
aggressive chemicals
- Operates over 50 times
longer than any other
fluoroelastomer tubing
Silicone
- Perfect insert for single-use
applications
- Lower cost option for
moderate endurance and lower
pressure ratings
- Fully SIP capable at 30 psig
steam conditions

Change out the Product Contact Surface in Seconds
The QR™ series FREE FLOW™ valve offers the same benefits of the
original lock-in body style, but features a side hinge to make
frequent element change-outs faster and easier. Now disposing of all
product contact surfaces takes only seconds. After removing the
valve from the process line (1), simply release the QR Locking Screw
(2), open the valve (3) and remove the element (4). To ready the
valve for operation, insert a new element, close the valve and clasp
the QR Locking Screw.

4Ideal for Continuous Tubing
The QR series is ideal for placement on continuous tubing
configurations such as manifolds and sampling systems. It is
the only method available for closing off tubing with a 1" ID.
Instead of attaching the valve by sanitary tri-clamp
connections, the valve body can be placed directly onto the
system with the continuous tubing acting as the valve
element. Thus, installation and removal of the valve can be
performed without disrupting the process line.
