• IDR 3 Idea Request Regarding Basic Text Purchase for H&I Facilities – GSR Tim B
• To have SEAZNA Area Service purchase 100 paperback Basic Text, cost
$1,212.00 plus shipping. These texts will be brought to the H&I committee mtg in
April and distributed to those in attendance who believe they would be able to take
to the institutions they visit and given to addicts who are seeking recovery. This
donation is not to have any effect on the H&I budget, it is to be given as a gift above
and beyond their budget.
• Our main purpose in NA is to carry the message of recovery to the addict who still
suffer. Our message can be found in our literature, meetings, relationships with
other people in recovery. Addicts in various institutions have very limited access to
these things. For many of them, they are limited to one meeting, one hour a week.
Having a Basic Text in hand would give the addict seeking recovery access to our
message when meetings aren’t available. Government bureaucracy and budget
constricts for private institutions, limit the amount of material to their residents. The
intent of this IDR is to alleviate some of the suffering found by those addicts without
other access.
