Detailed Design Description

ERG Rowing Machine Alternator

Equation 1: Potential Power Generated by the Rower where,

P= Maximum potential powerP = τR⋅ωτR = Rower torque at the shaft sprocketω = Angular velocity of the flywheel

Equation 2: Definition of Torqueτ = r⋅ F sinθ

Equation 3: Continuous motion Torqueτ = rF

Equation 4: Conversion from RPM to Angular Velocity

ω = RPM ⋅2π 60

Equation 1:Amps x Volts = WattsWatts / 745.7 = Electrical Horsepower ProducedElectrical HP X 25% (.25) Efficiency Loss = Horsepower LostElectrical HP Produced + HP Lost = Total Horsepower Used

Equation 2:Formula to an alternator that produces 45A at 12V:45x 12 = 540 Watts540/746 = 0.72 Electrical Horsepower Produced0.72 x 0.25 = 0.18 Horsepower Lost0.72 + 0.18 = 0.9 Horsepower Used

Equation 3:Formula: AC = DC / 0.636 Where, AC - Alternating Current DC - Direct Current 0.636 – Constant

06. Technical Help

Voltage produced by the rowing machine is not stable.

Rowing machine is a rigid and heavy machine.

Flywheel rowing machine and pulley alternator connection are difficult because of our design.

Different circuit simulation from the previous idea which we had design it.

Need modify the cable part (Micro USB Cable).

Need help from the technical leader who are familiar with the rowing machine.
