Fruit

1. Fruiting (follicles) is free. 2. Basally united to the axis or

shortly stalked. 3. 3-20 laxly that are arranged in a

6-9 cm long cluster. 4. Fruit is flat tened ovoid to slightly

spherical size 1.5-3.5 cm x 1-2.5 cm.

5. Partially woody, pale brown with white warts con taining 2-6 seeds.

6. Their fruits are about 30 in a cluster, each with a 3 mm long and densely hairy stalk.

7. The fruiting spike is compact.

Types of Fruits

Fruits are classified according to the arrangement from which they derive.

Michelia champaca is aggregate fruit. Each carpel develops into fleshy globule

that contains one of several seeds. Collection of follicles developing from one

Seed

Seed is ovoid and red-brown and in open fruit it is hanging on little thin cord that is attached to the placenta.

The seeds are brown with a pinkish fleshy aril. The seeds, 1-2 is brown when old ,polished

and various angled. The plant doesn't require pruning and has

naturally full and bushy shape. Seedlings start to bloom within 2-3 years
